Peanut Butter

Now I had my surgery Jan 23 2006. I am 6 weeks out exactly today (Monday) Now the RD with my Drs office said "NO PEANUT BUTTER" cause its sticky and can stick in the pouch? That was at my 3 week post op apt. I mean I started eating it before he told me not to. I have not had any problems with any foods what so ever. Nothing has made me sick, I mean I am not trying to eat something that makes me sick. I have cheated some. I had 1/2 bite of a doughnut hole. I did not pu**** like ate more and it was fine. I have had 1 bite of a lemon cake someone brought to work. Also nothing. I have never been sick. I just need to know about the peanut butter, cause it helps SO much with the sugar sweetness cravings. Thanks so much, Melissa

We are encouraged to eat it because of the high protein content.

I know we are encouraged to eat protein, but on my list from my RD from Duke, he said Peanut Butter was a NO NO. Its on the DO NOT EAT list. So that's why I am so confused.

I guess the best advice is to follow your own doctor's instructions. I love my peanut butter though. I just had a couple of bites with some apple slices and it went down like a dream. Maybe you should call and specifically discuss their peanut butter concerns with you so you understand what their thinking is.

HIJACK ~ How are you doing Beth? I haven't heard from you in a while. Did you make it to the Lunch this weekend. I really could of gone but didn't think about it until it was too late. Oh well. How is your progress coming. It has been pretty slow for me but I'm still happy with it. Hope all is well. Dana

Hey there my surgery sistah!! I am doing OK...I was hoping for a more kick-a$$ second month of weight loss but have only lost one pound this week so my total is 42.5. But I am still totally happy with it. I am down to a size 18 and feeling really good about myself. I've had a few BLECH moments, and I am struggling with my protein. I think I'm going to order some Profect. It was in a gift bag given out at the lunch on Saturday and it's really not so much to get down for 25 grams!! That would have been sooooooooo cool if you had made the lunch!! Unfortunately, my mom and I got there late and then we had to get back in time for her to do something so I didn't get a chance to really talk to a lot of people, but I did meet some and it was very nice (plus it's so much cheaper now!! My mom and I shared a salad which basically means I ate a few bites of chicken off of hers! lol). Sometime soon all of us January Cali girls should get together and have a lunch of our own - you, me, Carrie L., etc. That would be fun!

I hear ya on the protein. I got SICK and TIRED of my protein about a week ago but I know that without it there will be problems so I'm forcing myself to do the shake in the morning again. After my time in the hospital for the dehydration I was kindof blah on the whole diet thing. I've been really hungry for some REAL food. I'm down about 35 lbs since the surgery day and I do feel pretty good. Congrats on the 18's I have a bunch that I don't wear anymore but I think you are taller than me - I usually buy average - I will check them out - maybe you can use them! I need to stop shopping! I buy out of necessity but I bought too many pairs of jeans. Since I was such a lightweigh before the surgery I started out at a size 20 jeans and now I'm in a 14 or 16 depending on the cut. We should plan a get together... Maybe we could all meet about half way between LA and San Diego to make it easier. Lets plan it! Dana

Yeah, I'm tall so I always buy tall jeans (sniffle, sniffle). Oh well. I am really glad you're doing better...sip, sip, sip tha****er! I think halfway between LA and San Diego is a great idea. Maybe someplace like San Clemente? I think it's about an hour drive for each of us. I will look into restaurants in that area and I'll call Carrie L. about what she thinks. I know she's also in contact with a couple other newbies like us and we'll figure out a good date from there.

Melissa, I'm able to eat peanut butter, I use the Peter Pan NS Added. I put it on a few saltines and eat it that way. I would check with your doctor though. Carly
