Peanut Butter

I have eaten PB all along. It is a great protein. Also, nuts are on my nutrition list--chewed very well of course. When I was in Stage 2 foods, I would spread little bits of pb on slices of banana and eat them...yum!

My nut. just told me last week to lay off the peanut butter because she said although it provides good protien and fat it is a food that you can easily over due. I love peanut butter

That is weird? It's on my OK food list. It's high in protein. I bought Skippy low fat and I have it a couple times a week.

I eat it all the time, put a spoon in the jar and eat it that way. It does not stick in the pouch, doesn't have enough sugar to cause problems, has high protein. We are also told to eat nuts, for the same reason. It doesn't hurt you at all, as long as you don't over eat it, like everything else.

I eat p'butter often. Never had a problem. Now, I am supposed to avoid it because I could easily overeat it and its high in Fat/Calories/Carbs... but I just have a teaspoon now and then. I have never eaten more then my daily allowence of calories/carbs/fats so I figure I am ok... and even if I just dip a spoon in and lick it, I make sure to log it. It is in my top 5 favorite foods of all time, so I figured I may as well learn now how to *carefully* include it in my life with out going overboard. Since, I know I would NEVER EVER be able to give it up completely. (yes, i am that in love with it).

Peanut butter is on my safe list. I have never had a problem with it. In fact, I have taken a slice of whole wheat low carb bread, toast it and then add peanut butter and SF jelly. Yummy. Or, I have added a tsp to a chocolate protein shake and blended it. Chele

My RN said yes to Peanut Butter at 2 months out. She said to use Natural Peanut Butter. Skippy has a natural creamy now!!! They keep the peanut oil instead of replacing it like they do regular brands. I have to say about the donut hole, BE CAREFUL, that is the same as bread!! All that soft bread type stuff can really hurt you. My Dr. just remove part of cake and bread from a patient's stomach (not mine). It balled up and wouldn't digest! ::hugs:: Cyndi

"My Dr. just remove part of cake and bread from a patient's stomach (not mine). It balled up and wouldn't digest!" Wow. If that isn't a deterrent, I don't know WHAT is! Note to self... no...sneaking....bites...of...cake...ever (underlining "ever" for emphasis). Chele

Peanut Butter is on my list as well and I'm losing, losing, losing and no problems with digestion, tolerance, etc. Best to follow your surgeon's advice, but I'm not sure why pb is not allowed for you. Best wishes.
