A little general info from my last visit
Hi everyone!
I wanted to let everyone know a few tidbits of info that I received from my last checkup with my surgeon last week. Im posting this because I have seen several post re: some of the info that has stressed people out because of the answers they had received from their doctors. I know every surgeon and nutritionalist is different in their opinions but here it goes:
1) It does not matter if you eat after 7pm, my nutritionalist actually recommends eating something closer to bedtime so that you dont wake up ravenous-she said as long as you are in the range of caloric intake that you should be it doesnt really matter when you eat as long as you are NOT OVEREATING and taking in too many more calories in the evening.
2) My surgeon does not require his patients to lose a certain amount of weight in a certain amount of time-he stated, which would be common sense-EVERYONE is different and EVERYONES body will react differently to the surgery as with any traditional diet plan, he cannot expect every patient to lose a certain amount within a certain amount of time-he advises his patients on what the average has been that he has seen but otherwise it is not a requirement to lose so much every week or every month in his office. He has seen a person start at over 300lbs lose less in several months than a person who started at below 300lbs--on average his patients lose 70-80lbs within the first 6months but he has seen alot do more or less as well.
Someone had posted several days ago and was upset that their doctor wasnt happy with their 30+ loss and expected 4lbs per wee****il her next visit. Thats not realistic-as long as you are following protical 100% allow the process to work-I am changing my mindset and if I hit a stall I am going to continue to do what I have been doing and just let my body do its thing and I know eventually the scale will start moving again.
I personally have noticed that the people that have had frustration in losing are those who are eating starches already and fruits-Im not saying everyone because this is not meant to offend anyone at all by any means but everyone has to remember that PROTEIN is first and foremost and personally the people I know who did EXTREMELY well and lost very quickly-ex 100 lbs within 5-6 months and they started off as LIGHTweights are those that concentrating on all protein and very LITTLE of anything else--I know it gets boring to just eat protein but thats the name of the game
Well I hope this helps someone and I hope I havent offended anyone! Eveyone have a great day and keep losing
Lori

I am supposed to have 20-30% of my diet as good carbs, they are essential for muscle maintenance which burns fat. I was actually warned against an all protein diet.
With that I choose foods that bring good carbs AND protein like beans. They are my staple.
I was also advised to eat something at night if I am feeling hungry, that keeps the metabolism high and allows for a better quality of sleep. There is a point that late night noshing, everyday, is not good for you so you have to make your own decisions on what is needed and what is excess.
Cheers,
Tiffany
It does make me laugh how every surgeon is different. I am to have fruit and a veggie (I have been told to eat potatos if I want) and protein with every meal. I dont eat the fruit because I dont like it but every once in a while I will eat some orange. Also I am allowed 3 meals a day and absolutely no snacking but I do have oatmeal some times at night if its late and its been hours since I have eaten or dinner made me sick and I know I have not eaten enougth that day. I still hardly ever get to 700 calories a day and I was told I need 1200. These posts never offend me because I know every doctor is different and every person is different. Some people are here because they ate way too much and some people are here because of health issues that helped the weight come on and ate the wrong things. I eat bread every day and I was told as long as I am eating whole grain and in small amounts its perfectly fine. I have lost 58 lbs since 12/27 and I am now 58 lbs from goal so I know for me that this is perfect for my body.
