I'm Back from the Show!
Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't posted this weekend- was at a sheep show in Tulare, California. I took two animals- a yearling ewe (year old female, Bliss) and a market lamb, Austin. I showed Bliss on Saturday and took second place in showmanship (I'm the one that's judged and there was some tough competition!) and Bliss went on to win Reserve Grand Champion of the whole show! That was when she was the one who was being judged.
Today I showed Austin in the market classes (no he wasn't sold at auction lol) Austin and I placed fourth in showmanship (even more competition in this class- these kids show every weekend with thousand dollar sheep
) In Market, Austin placed 6th in a huge class.
All in all I had a great weekend in the showring. I've only had Austin since February 20th and he has done remarkably well. He is a project lamb for a young girl who will be showing him in May. You can see pictures at http://www.k-carena.com/Sofia.htm if you'd like. I need to put up some photos from this weekend, but he's a great lamb and has such personality!
Now my wows
In the past when I showed my sheep I would get so hot and sweaty in the ring and pray for it to be over so I could sit down. Its hard work for the body to stand straight when a 150 pound plus animal is pushing against you (bracing). Well this weekend I was fine! I did feel some weakness, but I think it was due to me not getting my protein/water intake high enough. My dad had to put hole in my belt before the show so I could wear it and on show day yesteday it fit ok, a bit loose, but ok. Today it didn't do anything! It was too big!!!!!!!! LOL All of these people noticed the weight loss and I definately noticed them lol.
This weekend was my first outing into the world of college age showmen and boy were the hormones racing lol. But it was so much fun and I just had to share!!!!
