You can perfectly say what you feel about the surgery. i had it done 7 weeks ago. i do not know how much you lost, but every body is different. It takes time to adjust to new life. So take it slow, and you will feel better, one day the weight will start melting.. Keep the good faith and good luck.

I am content with all areas of my life except this horrible surgery. I have a wonderful family, great church, terrific friends, a beautiful home, a car to drive and all of that. As for this surgery, it sucks, literally sucks the life and energy out of me. I had no co-morbidities before surgery. I had the surgery to help me lose weight, keep it off and prevent the co-morbids form popping up later in life - when I had my daughter, I had gestational diabetes and pregnancy induce hypertension. I think the quality of my life as a result of the surgery is lower than before. I wish that I would have never had this surgery. I have been more successful using other diet plans. THIS WHOLE PROCESS SUCKS! I have lost more weight in a much easier fashion that this mess I am in! 8 plus weeks and a measly 40 pounds - sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks!!!!!!!!! I hate eating protein all the time, I actually rebelled and ate fritos. I am tired of meat and cheese, the thought of yogurt makes me want to puke. Protein drinks just about gag me, thank goodness for Profect. I am tired all the time, I guess when you have very few carbs, you have very little energy. According to some research I have done anyway. I am always constipated which leads to physical discomfort. I could go on and on and be a really big downer ... but you get the picture. God Bless, Jen

I have no regrets and feel very content with my decision and progress. OK, some times I wi**** was faster but that's my impatience and that's been a part of me since the beginning of time, not necessarily related to WLS. I agree that the main board sometimes is a cult and perhaps people need to really live it 1000% to support the changes they have made. But I would never flame anyone for being discontent, I can definately see how that could be the case. We love and support you, Renee, and anyone else who is having challenges. The January board rocks! While I am content my days are not without challenges. I occassionally feel a twang when I want to eat more of or something not on my menu. I want to go drink with my friends. I want to be thin NOW. Fortunately none of those override my happiness with my decision. Best wishes to all.... Tiffany

I think what some people are forgetting (and I forgot for a while too) is that this tool works for the next 18 months. I don't think anyone here could honestly say they stuck to a conventional diet for 18 months. I know I didn't. So yeah, at this point in the game some of us may have lost more through other means but I really think your story is going to change 6, 8, 10, 12 months down the road. Think about it. If you loose only 10 pounds a month (2.3 pounds a week) you can loose 180 pounds before this is all said and done. For most of us that is way above what we need to loose. For you guys struggling, keep your chin up, we've only just begun. Dawn

Well, yeah...it is possible that after a year or 18 months when we start feeling the benefits (right now for me, the discomforts and physical effects of surgery outweight any benefit), then perhaps we'll change our tune. Even though the "tool" works for 18 months (or, so they say), we will have to supplement with protein and vitamins and track our labs for the rest of our lives. Of course it's more of a serious change than any "diet" we have ever been on. To answer your question, YES I have been on a "diet" for 18 months. Shall I say, I ate totally low carb/Atkins for well over 2 years straight and could count on one hand how many times I "cheated" (meaning, a bite of something "carby", not a whole plate/day/week of going off of Low Carb). Not being argumentative, just sharing my experiences. Chele

You asked. No. I'm not at all content. I'm with Renne and Jen. I regret having the surgery. For many reasons which I won't go into at this time. I haven't found anything easy about the "transition" and wish I could turn the clock back. THERE I said it! (er...typed it!) Chele

Chele~ I swore I heard you breathe a sigh of relief to say that. We are all entitled to our own opinions and each and every one of is different. I'm thrilled with my 40something pounds lost where someone else that lost the same amount is disgusted. I think that you, Jen, and Renee are doing the right thing though...your keeping it real with us and yourself. I commend you for that Dawn

I think it wrong for surgeons to do this surgery on anyone that has no co-mobities, this surgery was made for the people that, if they don't have the surgery they will die, because of their co-morbities. It is not the magic bullet that some of the surgeons only in it for the money make it out to be. I had my surgery because of my health issues, and try to have the co-morbities solved. I have been going through thinking like you, too. What have I done to my body, God made the human body a perfect machine, and I was the one that distroyed His creation by making food my friend and comfort. There are some surgeons should not be doing this. Thank God mine is not one, and he really trys to talk you out of the surgery, because so of us think it will be perfect when I get this done, and I will be thin and healthy. We have the choice, I choose it, and now I must continue with what I have started, there is no turning back once it is done, it is done. Good luck and pray and you will find you will be better. Lynda
