Hi All, Just wanted to say congratulations to all the folks that seem to be having no problems taking in food and getting all their protein and fluids in. This post really is for those of us that have been struggling with it. Friday I saw my surgeon for the second time and was informed that I am in her words "deconditioned" (mal nurished essentially) and that is why I am tired all the time. I haven't been able to tolerate eggs, chicken, fish, and basically all meats. Nor was I able to tolerate those protein shakes (would automatically trigger gag reflex and vomit after only 1 ounce of the crap) Tried Isopure drinks and was able to tolerate the grape flavor for a day but the second day the drink was just too sweet for me to take without wanting to barf. I tried adding crystal lite lemonade to the drink but that was just as sweet and couldn't drink it. Everything also had a too sweet taste to it or a metalic taste. I would look at food and was completely turned off by it. Had no appetite at all. I would try things as I know I needed to get my protein and fluid in but every time I tried I would always end up vomitting. I have been essentially living off popsicles, milk and water. This past sunday I thought I would try my sons protein bars (he's trying to beef up for sports), but found they had too much sugar in them. Did you surgeon offer any suggestions to you? Can you eat cream soups or cottage cheese, yogurt, sf pudding? Cheese? I am sure you have tried everything, just trying to think of something for you. What about broth? I have a hard time with protien drinks as well and most stuff tastes way too sweet to me as well. Good luck! Leeanne

Hi Leeanne, I don't know where the rest of my post is...seems it cut off in mid stream. Do you know how I can get my full post submitted. I know it was long but I have definately seen longer post on here before. As for her suggestion, was basically work on getting the protein in. She wants me to go to physical therapy and work with a nutritionist. I am not a big fan of cheese but I used to love yogurt but as I said in that post everything tasted metallic or too sweet for me. I am doing better these past few days and certainly am getting my 60g protein in each day. Thanks for your post. Deb
