Thanks so much for your note - since we started out the same. Here is a toast to our continued weight loss journey.

I just noted on my weigh in post that I lost eight pounds this week. This is after 3 to 4 weeks of very little to no weight loss (and even a couple of weeks where I was losing weight I had GAINED). I think this week my body just was ready to lose those pounds. We have to be patient because we all lose differently. I have seen people post who had surgery when I did who have lost a lot less, and I can imagine that my weight loss (54 lbs) seems like a lot, but then I've also had those same feelings when I see people who have had their surgery at the same time as mine and have lost a lot more than me. I am envious, but there is nothing I can do except continue to follow my doctor's orders and trust that the weight will come off when it's ready. And if this week proves anything to me, it's that the weight WILL come off!! Protein and water are SOOOO important...continue to get in that protein and work on fulfilling the water intake minimum. Hang in there!! Hugs, Beth

I think the best advice that I have seen in most of these posts is to not compare yourself to others. Everyone is different at gaining/losing weight. Just continue to do what your doing (except I would say get in at least the 64 oz of fluid - not just for the weight loss but so that you don't get dehydrated) and it will happen. If your doctor isn't worried about how 'slow' it is coming off, then I wouldn't worry either. Good Luck

I had the surgery on Jan 24th and I am down 29 lbs. Right in there with you. I am chosing to enjoy the loss and trying not to focus on the profiles where people just had the fat fly off of them!!! I am grateful that I feel good most of the time. No real complications. I am struggling with water and protein and excercise so I know I can do better. Hang in there and try to focus on the good things that are happening in your body and your life. God bless your journey, you own very unique journey. J. Marie

J. Marie- Just another bit of possible info about some losing faster. I had my surgery on the 3rd of Jan and have lost 53 pounds, however, I didn't lose any before the surgery. Not only that but in my "last meal mentality" I gained about 12 pounds. Those 12 came off fairly quickly (guess they didn't have time to really cement themselves to my a**), but once I lost those pounds I had gained, the weight loss slowed down to a more average pace. It is hard to just look at people's numbers and really know how that compares, because their cir****tances may be completely different from your own. Yes, it was nice for me to see those 12 pounds drop off in the first two weeks, but how much nicer would it have been not to have gained them in the first place, not to have started 12 pounds higher than I needed to. Oh well, we are each in this for the long haul. Good luck and don't stress about the numbers. Take a look at other things. For me, I'm finding my walk to the parking garage (a couple of blocks a way) easier and faster than it ever was before. I am able to get into smaller sizes (yipee) and I am starting to feel good about myself. Look for those milestones - they will keep you going when the scale is being stubborn! Take care Eileen
