My Moronic Question of the Day
Okay yall -- I must have too much time on my hands, because the last few days I've been wondering something. We're not supposed to drink within 30 minutes of eating (before and after). BUT what happens when I eat soup or cereal? Am I not supposed to eat the liquid part of it? I can't slurp my soup or drink the milk after my Fiber One? Goofy question, I know, but it's been on my mind.
LOL, lovely title!
I have been wondering the same thing- but haven't had soup for awhile. When I did have it, I'd drink some of the broth, but not alot.... My doc allows me to drink up till I eat, so I'd drink the broth prior to chowing down on the meats. I haven't had cereal yet, though! Anyone else??? lol

The theory, although not universal, as that my Doc and some others don't hold by it, is that liquid pushes the food thru faster, letting us get hungery sooner. Well, when we eat soft food or soups, it goes thru faster. This is true. That is why protein is encouraged. It stays with us longer and we shouldn't get hungry as often.
Now, I can drink when I eat and have tried it both ways, guess what, I eat the same amount either way. My Doc doesn't hold to the no drinking rule. But I do know that I will get hungry sooner when I have soup or something like that. On the other hand, soup has alot less calories that other things with the same volume, so you could eat more with out a large calorie increase.
This discussion was on the main board early this month. Had alot of responses. Later there was another convo on myths and such, people said what they were told, but alot of it can't be backed with evidence, like sodas and stretching the pouch.
Don't know how I got here, just did. :/
Gosh, that main board can be cruel! Flamed for asking a perfectly innocent question? Jeesh.
I have ONLY heard that it pushes the food out faster. My doctor said nothing about expanding the pouch. Although I wait the allotted time period (which sucks), I think people on the main board go a little bonkers with this "expanding our pouch" stuff. As time goes on, our little pouchie will heal and expand a bit - nothing we can do is going to stop that.
