New Vice (bad or good, depending on your doc's opinion)

Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper Woaaaah momma is this delic! I took the pop plunge I guess about a week ago, and finally allowed myself some. I put lots of ice in it and let it sit out an hour or two or as long as it takes to get most of the carbonation out. It isn't caffeine free, and it does have sodium in it. I am going to have to limit myself, but I just wanted to confess my new vice. Forgive me for loving this stuff! Does anyone else drink soda/pop? I never did, but then I realized that if you take out the carbonation, there shouldn't be much difference between that and other diet soft drinks. Chele

Hi Chele, I've been wanting to try the Diet black Cherry & Vanilla Pop but other than that no I don't drink soda. I've never been a huge soda drinker, usually once a week. I did however drink a lot of carbonated water before surgery that I had to cut out. Maybe someday I can drink it again. Carly

I've never cared for soda. I would take a tall glass of Iced Tea any day over a carbonated beverage. However, I had tried the Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper preop and loved it. That would be a great "treat" when your craving something sweet. I don't know if my doc gave restrictions on soda. He said, "eat whatever you want as long as it's not fried, cooked in fat, or high in fat." He also said to eat until I am full and not to measure. I have to learn to listen to my body and not depend on measuring cups. Seems to me surgeons are either strick or easy going, there is no inbetween. Dawn

I used to be a "popaholic" before surgery. I drank one for breakfast. I tried a couple drinks of one last week and it wasn't worth it for me. Leeanne

I love diet dr. P but haven't had any since surgery. I used to drink 2-2 liter bottles a day of the stuff but then switched to the caffine free which is also very good. I don't want to get started with the caffien again it was way too hard to get off that stuff

I have had diet coke, and diet 7 up, I have bought them in the bottle and shake them until they are flat, I think it is a nice change from water. They do not taste the same to me, but my Doc did not say I could not have it. Mel

I was a pop-a-holic preop. My thing was Pepsi. Since surgery I have tried a diet 7up and it hurt my chest really bad and that was after shaking it vigorously. So I made up in my mind to leave pops alone. Octavia

My Doctor has no problem with soda, so I regularly drink diet cherry vanilla dr pepper, or coke zero. I love the carbanation. Its a nice treat, just be sure not to let it get in the way of our water intake. Elsa
