I saw the post where Kay said that she was embarrased to go to the gym. That made me so sad. Kay,you are beautiful and BRAVE. You made the toughest choice you have probably ever had to make in doing this surgery. I know that you can handle going to a place that is going to make you strong, healthy, confident... I thought that I would be the biggest when I joined Ladies Workout Express. There is one girl bigger...but it doesn't matter! Everyone is so supportive. They weigh and measure you every month (privatly). This month the owner announced in front of EVERYBODY that I had lost 15 lbs and 9 1/2 inches. Everyone stopped what they were doing and clapped. I was so proud of myself. I am doing this for ME and no one else. So next time you feel embarased... remember this is for YOU and your future! and as someone else wrote so eloquently, if the skinny girls don't like it...SCREW EM!

These people in the gym are going to see how fast and well you loose weight. Some of them were heavy at one time, they will understand. I find all kinds of support from my gym. The owners comment every once in awhile on how great I am doing and encourage me alot. Others in the gym are the same way. You will be respected by everyone for going to the gym and helping yourself. They all know what a commitment it is to go to the gym and make a difference in your life. They aren't judging you as much as you seem to be judging yourself. This is for Kay of course. And anyone else that feels this way. I love the gym and the people there. I also love myself for it all too.

I felt the same as Kay. So i looked into my local hospital and at the P.T department they have a fitness for life program and you can work out there and there is tons of people to help you in any questions they are great. The cost is only $ 19.99 a month. Plus one of the p.t ladies had the same surgery and she is great she helps me focus on the things I need help on ( like my flabby arms right now lol ). So i do feel for you Kay and totally understand. Tammy

We recently joined a private athletic/country club. Last night when I went, I was on the treadmill...had it set on an incline and brisk walking speed (about 3mph) and walked for 40 mins. I was along side men and women who were jogging/running the entire time and barely breaking a sweat. But you know what I was thinking? Why should I feel weird? (I don't, really!) I just wrote a check to the club the other night for the year (and for a family rate/family of 7, that's not a small check). I paid just like everyone else. I belong there too! You have to walk before you can run. Literally, in this case! There were a TON of hardbodies there, but I certainly was not the only one who was not in tip top shape. Chele

I too am/was afraid of going to the gym- so I looked into a circuit weight training class at my college. I get college credit and get to work out with weights, bikes, row machines, treadmills, stair climbers, yoga mats throughout the day. I go at 7 am and hardly anyone is there... I got brave Thursday and went at peak time... I felt weird at first since the softball team was there, but after awhile, I saw I was lifting the same weights as them and they've been on the sball team forever! So I'll probably go anytime next week Congrats on having such a supportive workout community Valerie!
