20-30 min. for a meal?
Good question, Liz. I take about 20 minutes. Its been hard for me to slow down but I am learning. Since I am so conscious of it, I now watch people and am appalled at how quickly most people snarf down food without more than 2-3 chews.
My guidelines are about 20 minutes and to chew to a paste like consistency which is 20-30 times. I have also learned to put down my fork between each bite and not pick it up until I have swallowed, then I can cut my next piece. I also watch the size of the bite I am making, sometimes they still get a little big.....
If I eat too fast and know I have to finish my portion I walk away from it for 10 minutes and then come back to slowly eat the rest. ~Tiffany
