So, as many of you know, I am moving from CA to DC soon... Im flying and I have one small layover, but other than that will be in the air basically all day (12 hours). What the heck am I supposed to eat? I figured I could do jerky once, but what are some other ideas of things that are easy to pack and will stay good all day? I am at a loss for ideas

Hi , I always carry an atkins or Q-bar, granola bars. i like the cranberry almond ones. Also, some nuts, or cheese sticks(if you have a small ice pack for your purse they would be fine. Thats all i can think of. Good luck on your move! Karyn

Could you take a small softsided cooler with you? You could take yogurt and cheese sticks or even some lunch meat rolled with cheese. Leeanne

You could also take a premade protein drink, Isopure, ABB Pro, EAS Carb Control. As far as food goes; protein pudding, nuts; cashews, peanuts, almonds. You could also ask the airline for a special meal, like a diabetic meal. This should be low in carb and all the other junk that we can't eat. (If your airline even serves a meal) God Bless, Jen

South Beach cereal breakfast bars. SOOO yummy. 140 calories and 10 grams of protein per bar. The peanut butter flavored ones, along with chocolate and their cinnamon raison flavors are to die for! Handovers (the people who make pretzels) make a snack called soy crisps (tastes like a potato chip kinda). VERY yummy. 8 grams of protein per serving (17 chips) and low carb. You could also pack a protein drink (one of the kinds pre-made in a can) and then just ask the airline for a cup of ice, and that'd easily be 20+ grams of protein right there too.

Hi MM, I just flew in from CA last night and it was a long ride. When I flew to CA I had a light n fit yogurt which I bought right before I got on the plane and I also took some cashews which was very good. I took in my purse carnation instant breakfast just in case because they will give you the milk. On my way back I bought on the plane an angus beef wrap (8$) which had lettuce and monteray jack cheese (yummy!!!!) you can discard the wrap if you want. I only ate half and my husband had the other half and it was very filling. ~Dawn

I on jerky once so...I will never recommend that. I know some people eat it with no problems though. I think you have received some great ideas! I don't know that I can add anything that hasn't already been mentioned. String cheese or other cheese Protein bars (Power Crunch, QSmart, etc) Protein Shakes (I know some people take a ziploc baggie and put a scoop in the bag, along with half a straw. When they are out somewhere, they add water and shake, then stick the straw in a corner and slurp...then toss everything away). Peanut butter (in the to-go packs...Skippy has one in "tubes"), crackers Tuna/chicken kits Nuts Chele

I second all these motions as great ideas. Airports have better options these days, too, including protein bars, nuts and yogurts. Safe travels!! DC is a wonderful city, I went to college there and loved every minute. Tiffany
