I don't think I ever told the January group this before, but I live in Springfield MA. and work in New Britain CT. it takes me 1 1/2 hours to drive to work and the same if not longer to drive home in the evening. When I entered the Baystate Mecical Centers WLS program I had to take a lot of time off for pre - op Dr's appointments. What would have normally been a 1/2 hour to 1 Hour appointment took a half day off because of the long commute. My boss didn't like the Idea that I was taking so much time off and decided to take me to HR and request that I be Medical Certed because I exausted my sick time for Dr's appointments 2 years in a row out of my 3 years on the job. I received a letter that my contract which is up for yearly renewal was not renewed right after I got my WLS date and, HR received my FMLA request for leave for the WLS surgery and intermittant leave for Dr's appointments leading up to and post operatively for 1 1/2 to 2 years after surgery. My last day at work at my current job will be September 18th 2006. I've been looking for another Job within the University college system, so my teens, daughter and son, can attend university for free, but with this administrative black cloud hanging over my head no one else in the University system will hire me. I've been interviewing with the Massachusetts University college system, but so far no luck. Friday I had my 2nd interview with Mohegan Sun Resort Casino for a 3rd shift Computer Help Desk Position, and they offered me the job, I accepted tenitavely, with the option to refuse if they can't meet or match my current salary. I should hear something within the next 2 weeks. In the meantime, I'm asking that you all pray for me and my family, I've been having some negitive thoughts and feelings about my decision to go through with the surgery at the expense of my childrens educational future, and I've been praying that God will bless us and provide for all our needs. Let me preface this by saying ... I am not sure how your work contract works. To me it sounds like you are being discriminated against and forced out the door. Would they do this to someone battling cancer? If your doctors appointments and time off requests are all legitimate and valid, I don't see how your supervisor can do this! God does bless and provide for our needs. I currently run a home daycare and have to close it due to some state regulations regaring daycare and being foster parents. He will se it through! God Bless, Jen

All I can say is this: And my God shall supply ALL your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Php 4:19) Need I say more??? Dawn

I am so sorry for all the issue you've had to go through, April! But, I am happy you were offered a job... at least its something I totally understand the black cloud... I was laid off from Cingular Wireless in July and still can't even get an interview with ANY Cellular company But I work at good ol' Jack in the Box in the meantime, so we'll see if anything else comes along. Good luck April! Jaci
