Thanks for the encouragement Jen. I am not really tempted by sugar too much. I seem to want the quantity. I can eat a plate of food. I have been averaging 1000 calories a day. I think my pouch is too big, lol.

Hi Bridget! We're all human. None of us are perfect. I admit that I too, have made a couple of bad food choices since my surgery. However, there ARE steps you can take to get back on track. One piece of advice that works really well for me is to create a fail proof environment. What I mean by that, is identify how/when/why/where you make poor food choices, and see how you can work to eliminate those options. For example......is fast food tempting to you (it is to me!)? Don't keep cash with you in the car, so you can't go through the drive through. How about starting to research healthy/yummy recipes that ARE allowed on your plan for the nutritionist? That way you will still enjoy what you're eating, without feeling deprived. For example, Handovers makes a Soy Crisp that tastes very similar to a potato chip! It has few carbs, and 8g of protein per serving. Maybe eat more fresh fruit (strawberries, grapes, etc....if allowed by your nutrionist) which will be a nice sweet treat as opposed to the sugar free candy. Congrats for recognizing that you have behaviors that you needed to address. I have no doubt that you will be successful with these new changes!!

See, with 2 small kids, it's almost impossible to remove myself from bad food situations. We have a McDonalds playgroup every week. Not to mention the mac & cheese, hot dogs, and snacks my kids eat. I do have to have a small amount of bad food in the house. But I also know those are all excuses to eat wrong, and I need to be stronger. It's just so hard sometimes!

Super Wal-mart's bakery has a rather large selection of sugar free muffins and cake-like breads. Like pound cakes. I don't dump if I have a small slice, no more or I get very fatigued and have to lay down. The banana bread is yum if you nuke it for 15 seconds and then smear it with whipped chream cheese. But I'm not buying it again! I swear!

I'm trying! I noticed this board really helps (shames) me into being on the strait and narrow with eating. I go to a delphi forum and they are so assed backwards there it isn't funny! One gal eats mashed potatoes every day for dinner! And she is the forum owner, believe it or not. Bridget
