I had this happen. I gained 6 pounds overnight. It only stayed a few days and then was gone as quick as it came. But, how depressing!! Leeanne

I am UP 2lbs today. I'm bloated and not in the best frame of mind. My "friend" is due any time so I think this is the reason. Either your scale is wacky, you're retaining water, or a combination of both! I don't see how it can be fat....you have got to still be losing. It's not nice to see the numbers change like that, no matter WHAT the reason is, is it? Chele

Yup, I've had my weight fluctuate up and down. My nutritionist had a neat explanation once, to help my group not freak out about weight fluctuations. She said that in order to gain a lb, you would need to eat 3500 calories. In order to lose a lb, your body needs to burn 3500 calories. If you gained 5 lbs in one day (which would be a total of 17,500 calories) that would just be unrealistic!! So, anytime my scale jumps like that.....I am able to think about it rationally (usually!!) and I try not to freak out. It's probably jus****er retention.....maybe try to up your water today and tomorrow to see if you can pee it off??

Yes it's probably water retention. My scale was stuck last week plus it said I gained and that was depressing but it will come off again along with more weight. Maybe it's better to stay off the scale for the next couple of days until your body has gotten back on track (easier said than done). Karen S.

Honestly, THAT is why I weigh myself one day a week. I found that my weight would go up and down all week long. I do it on Sundays I am consistant with weight loss, even if it is only 2lbs. Michelle

Must be something in the air! I have gained 4 pounds since yesterday and was really upset about it, then a few hours later my monthly friend showed up and now i am ok. This has happened the past two months! I gain between 5-8 pounds during my period, then a week later it is gone! Weird Karyn
