I was afraid to ask this before but I just need to know... what's the deal with peanut butter??? I still don't know if I can eat it or not - I just keep forgetting to ask! I used to love PB pre-op but now the calories keep me afraid enough to keep my distance. Then again, I eat nuts so I might be eating the same amount of caloires without noticing. I see that there's a few PB experts around so please share your views on this.. to eat or not to eat, that is the question! Thanks, Vil

Hi Vil. Well Im far from an expert. But I can have pb. That being said, the problem is......I CAN HAVE PEANUT BUTTER! And I find myself wanting it, almost needing it. I know its all in my head. But it gives me this sense of fullness. Which got me here in the first place. I dont have much, just a teaspoon full at night. But it is high in fat and calories so I know that I should be making better choices. So I have decided that its evil and will stay away. (for as long as I can) Now I realize others eat it and Im glad, Im just afraid I wont be able to control myself one day and eat the entire jar........lol. good luck and please be careful with the pb, it can be addictive. You dont wanna become like me and Dawn and join a 12 step program for pb addicts. kristi

Kristi, LOL, I think the 12 step program would do wonders around here! OK, you scared me... maybe that's just what I need at this point! I will try to stay away from it at least until I find a sugar-free, low-fat, low-carb, low-cal, low-everything, good for nothing kind Thanks! Vil

Hi Vil, I'm allowed it but only have it once in a great while. I use the Peter Pan NS Added. Carly

I'm told to go sparingly and only "Simply Jif" in the white jar.

Well, it does have good protein in it....and is pretty darn easy to eat. I am allowed it sparingly but not every night like I have been in recent days. I'll even admit to dunking my chocolate calcium chew in it, too. Last night I tossed it as it was tempting me. Even though it was the low sugar kind (skippy) I still was too attached to a food and that's no good at this stage of the game. Tiffany

I'm allowed Peanut Butter and I love it. The problem is that even though it's a good source of protein it's really high in fat....even the reduced fat is high in fat....and I'm trying to keep my fat content down. So once in awhile, as a treat, I guess is OK for me. Luckily, I don't crave it like Kristi

I've been allowed peanut butter since I came off of puree foods. I used to it eat it more in the beginning, but I might have a tsp every week now... if even that. Usually it's when I'm in a hurry and I know I'm gonna need a boost. Susan

Vil~ Kristi D voiced my opinion on that beautiful smooth brown creamy delightful...oh sorry, I mean that horrible fattening high calorie stuff. I have choose to add PB to my list of foods that I know I can have, but refuse to have because of nutritional purposes. Sure it has some protein but a can of tuna has 5 times more with no fat, no carbs, and very few calories. Dawn
