I hardly eat anymore. I swear today I ate so far a bite of some cheese, 7 pretzels and some peanuts. I have no appetite at all, I really could go all day without eating and not even think about it. This week has been pretty hard for me just because of exhaustion. Could these two be linked? I have been getting in my protein via shakes and Isopure but not a whole lot from my food. So I guess my question is, how many of you guys go thru days of not eating much at all? And how many think that lack of energy could be from malnutrition? Thanks in advance for your input. Dana

I'm not sure what to say about your energy level because mine is through the roof. But I can say that the first month post op all I thought about was my next meal and I was always hungry. Now I only eat because I know it is "time" to eat. I really don't think I have experienced hunger for a while now. I think I would skip dinner every night if I didn't have kids. Dawn

Hi Dana, I'm not an expert or a nut by any means but I believe that you could be tired because your not getting the nutrients from food that you need. You get protein from shakes but not essential vitamins & minerals. Are you taking a multi-vitamin or iron supplement? Well rest up this weekend and take care of yourself. Carly

Hi Dana, I have had tons of energy, but then, I still enjoy eating and look forward to my meals. It is just that when I sit down to eat I can't eat very much. But I eat small portions and a little of everything in every food group. I start with protein and focus on it at each meal and supplement with veggies and fruits...like when I have been on Weigh****chers in the past. But, I just eat those tiny portions they always told you to have and for the first time in my life they actually satisfy me! I think you might want to try this too. Try to eat a balanced diet but just eat very small amounts and see if your energy picks up. For example, a protein and fruit for breakfast, protein and veg or fruit for lunch, and a protein and veggie for dinner. Supplement this with a couple servings of dairy (yogurt, string cheese) for snacks. Good luck! Diana

Hi Dana, How many grams of protein are you getting in a day, including supplementation (shakes, etc)? Whey protein is very highly bioavailable to our bodies...but could you need more? It's possible. I shoot for 100 gms. I know Isopure is high too! How are you doing in terms of fluids? Dehydration can cause fatigue. Hugs, Chele

Hi Dana! I have been pretty tired for the past couple of weeks too. I have been forgetting to eat lately too. There are some days I don't eat OR drink and I feel awful the next day, so I think your exhaustion and not eating is linked. Today I started making myself eat on a schedule. I carried protein bars and drinks with me wherever I went... now to get the water in! You might also wanna call your doc for his input... Jaci

I am with you... ZERO appitite. I am SO disenchanted with food these days. This is new, I haven't really felt hunger, but the whole not wanting to eat crept up sometime about 2 weeks ago. Lately, I have been doing 2 protein drinks a day, one meal of actual food, and one *small* protein filled snack. I was worried too, so I asked my surgeon about it (I saw him just two days ago). Everyone will have a different answer, but mine said that it is perfectly fine to not eat much, so long as my protein and supplements were good. I need to at least get in 70+g of protein a day and vitamins, and calcium. And ofcourse, I am never to go over certain # of calories, fat and carbs... I haven't any energy problems. The first few weeks Post Op were hard for me, but I have been fine since. Take care, I hope you find something that works for you -Mary P.S. I find that I am more tired the days following no excersie days.

I am really not enjoying eating now. Especially dinner, I am throwing up all forms of chicken, and meat, sometimes tuna. Soups are fine, yogurt, oatmeal. I am rarely hungery. I am exhausted at night. I know that I am not eating enough. The protein drinks are aweful. I keep telling myself when my hair falls out I will regret not trying harding to drink the shakes. I wish I had some answers, I am so happy with my weight loss,(36 lbs) and the surgery. I am just hoping things get easier, for me and for you too!

J Marie, Talk to your Dr. about the throwing up when you eat meat... I was doing that too and ended up having to have an endoscopy... it's a procedure that doesn't take long and you get instant relief from the throwing up!... They had to open up my hole a little it had started to close up... that was 3 weeks ago and things are going fine now!
