scared, confused, unsure
I saw my surgeon thursday and he said I have lost 51% of my 70% weight loss, since surgery. His words I am losing too fast.
I thought I was doing good to be down 50 lbs by 9 weeks...I am dehydrated, and I am not eating very well. ie: I am afraid to eat due to the pain that comes, excess saliva, and ultimate vomiting for relief. I am not talking about stuffing myself...example...I ate 3 oz beef soup (broth), 3 bites (size of a broth cube) beef steak, 3 green beans. By the time I got home 45 minutes later my mouth was draining saliva so fast I coud not swallow and I had to make myself
for relief.
I can do 4 oz carnation Instant breakfst
I can do 3-4 bites of cottage cheese
I can do one spoonfull of peanut butter
I can do Oj till I am orange
I am just now able to start keeping water down again, I average 4-6 oz, but I keep water close at night at work and sip on it often.
I can do a slice of sharp cheese
I can do 2% reduced fat milk a pint
when I try ckn, tuna, meats of pretty much any kind...it comes back up.
Bread is a no no I have tried melba toast does ok, but no crackers or bread
Yes I cheat a nibble on chips 2-3, and I have even eaten a few of those new fat free cookies that came out zero carbs.
My surgeon wants me to consult GI doc and see if I need my suture looked at and maybe stretched open a bit???? April 4th
I kinda like not eating because that is all I used to do..I am never hungry right now when before I would always be saying hey lets go grab a bite.
There are a few things I miss but It is a passing thought now days.
I got into a pair of 7/8 junior jeans the other day, and look pretty good except I lost my butt. My husband bought me an excercise bike and put it together tonight.
If what my doc says is true then I only have 18.5 lbs to hit my 70% mark..my goal is 115 but I think as I see myself now probably 120-125 would be best. I have 35 lbs to go... then it is focusing on getting my nutrition and firming up. But if I can't eat right how long is this going to last...I feel like I dealt with the devil

Wow Deborah,
I hope that the doctor's appointment goes well and they are able to help you out. That would be very rough not to be able to eat. I've never thrown up since surgery and can eat anything... good? I don't know.
I can see your fear of losing too much too fast though and I hope it goes well for you, please keep us updated on what you find out.

It seems we have a lot in common Deborah...I can't eat very much either. The only difference is my surgeon and team is ok with that (but then I have a lot more weight to lose then you, I started out at my highest of 380.)
I can only eat 1oz of meat, that's it. If I try to pu**** to 1 1/2 oz- even salmon, I puke. I was vomiting almost daily, now it's a few times a week. I'm scared to try things too. Cheese is a good one for me, 1 oz of cube cheese or one slice. Cottage cheese. Crackers. It's funny you mention chips, I can tolerate those ok and had a few tonight (a big no no!) I've been sick the past few days with almost anything i eat, i think i might have a bug (I had a 101 fever last night).
Good luck with your appointment and try not to be hard on yourself. You are doing a great job, and if they have to go in and open it a little, then that's what they need to do. You'll be in my prayers.
Take care

I have the opposite problem - I am worried I can eat too much and something is wrong. Yesterday I had 1/2 sandwich for lunch....one piece of whole grain bread, 2oz turkey, slice of cheese. I took about 20 minutes to eat it. I left about two bites because I was starting to feel full. But I never get that "stuffed" feeling, or any pain/pressure, or any foamies, or feel like I'm going to throw up. I have never had that. Maybe I am eating slow enough and chewing well enough....I see my surgeon on Tuesday for my 3 month check-up and I'm going to ask him about this.
I try to get in at least three protein drinks and a protein bar a day plus all of my vitamins. Then I eat very small quantities a few times a day. I am eating less than you. (helps relieve constipation). In the a.m., I will try to eat about 1/3 cup of total or shredded wheat cereal. Mid morning, I'll have about 3 ounces of yogurt. For Dinner, I'll eat a couple of ounces of lean meat then a few hours later have some veggies. I'm also getting in at least 48 ounces of water, 1 cup of decaf tea and a juice pop daily. So far I've lost 50 pounds. It really is a matter of eating very small meals. Just this last few days, I am finding I can eat more as well. Hope this helps.

don't be scared of having to go in for a endoscopy... I had to do that 2 weeks ago...and it was instant relief!!! You will have a soar throat for about 2 days, but that is all.... I could not keep certain foods down either and they said, that the hole had closed up a little..it's not uncommon... don't worry to much... I still can't eat alot..lol but atleast I'm not throwing up anymore!
Good luck!
