Just wondering how long you wait after meals before you drink.

Hi Stephanie, I generally wait 30 minutes before drinking after a meal. I'm told so that we stay full longer and that the water dosen't pu**** out. It takes me about 20 to 25 minutes to finish a meal. Carly

I keep this rule. I wait 30 minutes before and wait 30 minutes after I eat. Sometimes it's hard but it's a rule I follow.

Goodness my doctor says 1 1/2 hours after you eat. Of course I can't do that. That's just to long for me. I don't drink while I eat but I drink all the way until I eat. I sip while I make dinner. It keeps me from tasting.

Steph, as someone mentioned the issue with drinking after the meal is the liquid washing the food out of the pouch which would then make you hungry sooner than if you wait. As for the time eating, my nut actually says to only take about 20 minutes to eat and to stop. So, if you still have food left after 20 minutes, don't eat it, just leave it. The idea being that it takes a while for your brain to catch up with your stomach and if you eat for more than 20 minutes, you are probably overeating. As for me, I defnitely observe the 30 minute rule. I find that if I don't, the water usually makes me need to :puke: as it's enough to just push that volume over the top and make me too full. Regarding time, I don't pay attention to it. I can still eat so little (and I still throw up quite a bit) that I know I'm not getting too many calories. Lisa S.
