OT - Back from the Dr w/ Grace
Hi Jen,
My Kaden just turned 2. He was 6lbs 1oz when he was born and he weighs 25lbs now. He is a picky eater I have asked his doctor and she told me not to worry about it because he is healthy. He just reached the 25lb, he weighed 21lbs for appx 7 mos and I know I was feeding him. I can't tell you how it made me feel when someone would say "He's so little". There he is a skinny baby and me this FAT woman, as if I was wasn't feeding him or something. Just keep your head and know that God has the say so. She will start to gain on her own time. My prayers are with you all.
Blessings coming your way
Octavia
Isn't it ironic we are struggling with obesity ... and have these skinny babies.
She wants to eat often, she has her meals plus 2-3 snacks per day and all the milk she wants. They tell me to put butter on everything and give her high calorie foods ... just the opposite of what we are supposed to eat!
We take her tomorrow for her follow up to her vomitting episodes. I am going to ask the doc again if there is any other specialist we should see.
God Bless,
Jen
Jen,
I understand exactly where you are coming from. My daughter Elizabeth was 7 pounds 12 ounces at birth and was 6 days late. She was a small (failure to thrive)baby and at 12 months weighed 17 pounds and wore size 6 months. We went through all the tests just like you and the tracking of food ect. She remained tiny and at 9 years old she was wearing a 4T. She was below the charts for height and weight. I finally switched doctors and they did a bone age and it showed she was 5 years and 4 months and her actual age was 9 years and 2 months. She was 47 inches tall.We ended up with an Endocrin specialist at Buffalo Children's hospital. She was started on growth hormone and now is 18 years old 125 pounds and 5' 3" tall. You would never guess she was so small for so long, but now she is perfect. Good luck with Grace!
~~hugs and well wishes~~
Chris

Hi Chris,
You know I just freakin hate that diagnosis - FTT - I can't even put into words how it makes me feel.
She has been to a GI/Endocrin clinis at Texas Childrens Hospital, they say everything is normal ... We take her tomorrow for her follow up to her vomitting episodes. I am going to ask the doc again if there is any other specialist we should see.
God Bless,
Jen
Jen,
My oldest Sofia was born at 37 weeks and was 6lbs 6oz, she has always been really tiny. Now she is almost 6 and weighs a whopping 35 lbs....she only wears a size 4t-5t becuase the 3t's are too short, but I have to buy her the adjustable waisted kind so I can cinch her up in them. My second daughter Natalia was 37 weeks and weighed 5lbs and 11oz, she too is tiny, and weighs about 34 lbs she is almost 5. My son on the other hand was 35 weeks, weighed 5lbs 9oz, and is almost 2 (in June) and weighs in at an astounding 27 lbs, he is my little moose man!! talk about a difference huh?
I bet she will start gaining here soon, or they will find the reason she isnt. But hey, I always tell my girls there are advantages to being tiny
Hang in there, I will pray for you that all is well for your baby girl!!
Take care of you all,
Steph

Thanks Steph,
I am always happy to hear about other small children. Were your daughters diagnosed as failure to thrive?
We take her tomorrow for her follow up to her vomitting episodes. I am going to ask the doc again if there is any other specialist we should see.
Thanks for the prayers.
God Bless,
Jen
