Jen you're not alone. I used to have AOL and they had IM capabilities but now I have high speed internet through my cable service and I don't think I can do this any more

sure you can....just go to AOL and sign up for the IM function, be careful you dont agree to their toolbar or other defaults. Likewise you can sign up thru Yahoo.com. We use it for work to monitor employees as we have home offices, its easy.....come join us!

Jen, Using a messaging application is like chatting. You open up a certain program and you can add your friends to your buddy list. You'll be able to see who is online and when, and you can send them instant messages (and they can respond to you as well). You can also use a webcam or voice chat, if you wish.
