Need a laugh?
Okay so earlier I posted on the roll-call message that I was a bit concerned about going to a department lunch at a thai restaurant today. I wasn't worried about overeating, since thai food isn't my thing, but I was more concerned about the smell making me sick. Here's what happened.
There are 9 of us, we walk down the street in the pouring rain and get a table. Everyone but me ordered trying to pronounce the thai name of the menu item - I just picked out the BBQ chicken and ordered that. The waiter asked if I wanted sticky rice with that (thai equivalent to french fries maybe?) and I declined. So they bring out everyone's food - except mine. So everyone is sitting there waiting for me to be served before they will even pick up their fork and I told them not to be silly - go ahead and start. So the waiter brings me a plate and it is obviously not chicken, so I said that wasn't my order. He apologized (I guess, he wasn't speaking English), and said my order would be right up. Everyone finished eating and I was still there with no plate. One of my co-workers ordered ribs and asked me if I wanted one, which I took. That turned out to be my lunch! Finally my boss asked if they would please just put my lunch in a to-go box since it had taken so long and everyone was finished eating and I didn't feel comfortable eating my lunch with everyone watching.
HOW PERFECT WAS THAT??
I didn't have to sit there and pick at the food and only eat my 2 ounces and say I wasn't hungry. I got to bring the box back like I was anticipating it so much and pitch it! I tore off a small piece of the chicken and it was okay but nothing to write home about.
Sometimes things just work out perfect and I thought it was hysterical.
