OOps, ate sugar

I eat SF popcycles at night, snack on them, don't even count how many I eat, it satisfies me and causes no harm. Anyway, last night my daughter got me a 2 pack and I ate them. Then I started not feeling well, slightly sick to my stomach. That was funny because they usually sooth my stomach. Well a little while later I got up to get some more, in the hopes it would help with the stomach, that's when I saw they were not SF! They have 14g of sugar, so guess it wasn't enough to make me fully dump, but close to it. The night before I had a salad with Ranch dressing on it. Wasn't going to eat alot, so gave myself permission. After I ate, started to not feel well. I am wondering if the amount of sugar was just too high for me. It was a restaurant, so no way to know the sugar count, but will avoid it now. Took 4 months to have sugar and then it was by mistake. Was worried I would dump and then again worried I wouldn't. Guess the mystery is over. Oh and another side note. Had a very small taste of angle food cake and a nibble, like the tip of, a dark chocolate kiss. Just enough of both for taste, nothing more. I had not trouble with that. But when I ate it, I figured the real amount of sugar was very small, guess I was right.

Ah man!! I bet you felt like kicking something! It's one thing to knowingly cheat, it's another to do it by accident. This post makes me pose a question, if you don't know maybe someone else will. Once our bodies are in ketosis (I'm assuming 95% of us are in it now) what amount of sugar/carbs would one have to consume in one day to get out of it? Dawn

Yah, if I was going to cheat, I think I would have rather done it with chocolate or ice cream As for ketosis, the only thing I know for sure is 5g. of sugar is equal to a teaspoon of sugar. Milk has about that in a cup and it doesn't interfere with weightloss. So I would say at least 16g for a few days would do it. Basically anything that will slow or stop our weightloss will stop ketosis. A big thing would be larger amounts of carbs. But this is all just a guess, would be interesting to here from someone on it though.

Dawn, The way I understand it, everyone is different as far as how many carbs it takes to get them inot ketosis. Just a small amount of change effects me. They say adding carbs in 5 gram incriments until your body is out of it is the way to go. You can get urine strips to test for this. I know when I was doing Atkins, I had to stay between 10-20 carbs a day to stay in ketosis. Anything over that and I was out of it. Hope this helps. Leeanne

Sorry you ate sugar, but good it made you feel bad (in a good/bad sort of way, lol). As far as the ranch dressing, the FAT content may have made you dump also. I tend to dump on high fat, just like I dump on sugar. In fact, I once dumped on ranch dressing also! I had to go lay down for about an hour to feel better. Bridget

You reminded me of the time when I was about a month post op. We went shopping and stopped at A&W with the kids for lunch. I don't remember eating, but I did have a sip of DH's diet rootbeer after it had been sitting awhile, and from the watery top part of the cup. After awhile, I took another sip only this time, I mistakenly got a sip or two from my son's regular rootbeer. I panicked! I thought I was going to dump...I had no idea what to expect, even just from one sip. I had heard all these horror stories...what did I know? Well, I was fine. But what a horrible feeling that is! A big "UH OH!" Chele
