Lab Tests
I had surgery on January 3. But had a rocky start and ended up back in the hospital 2 weeks later due to a wound infection. The doc has stayed pretty close to me and I have been seeing him monthly (today in fact). After today I don't see him again for 3 months
I had my first labs at the end of February so that was at 2 months post-op. That's when they found my iron deficency. I will have new labs done before I see him again in July

My surgeon's typical schedule is 1 week (staples removed & mtg. w/ doc), 4 weeks (complete lab work-up & meeting w/ doc), 3 months (lab & doc), 6 months (lab & doc) & 12 months (lab & doc). Then you see him every annual anniversary after that and I think do labwork if you want or you can do it with your PCP.
I think each surgeon handles follow-up appointments differently. I've heard of some people who go every month for the first 3 months and then there are some who don't see their doc much at all. Hopefully they shared their follow-up plan with you prior to surgery. Whatever that was, if that's what you're doing, then that would be the right thing for you.

Hi Suzan:
Tomorrow I am going to have lab Test. I don't know the name in english but basically they are gong to look for amount of iron, amount of glucose and a general test of urine.
I have seen my Dr. three times from surgery on January 14th. The last time he told me that every thing was wonderfull and gave an appointment after three months (which is wonderful because I am paying all the expenses)....
Have a nice day
