Some people who monitor their carb intake insist that sugar alcohol should be counted like sugar because their bodies react just as if they have eaten sugar. I have tested my blood sugar after eating them and have not experienced an elevation in levels. Nor do I seem to be sensitive to the side effects of sugar alcohols (abdominal cramping/distress), then again I have never eaten a LOT of it at one time. Some are sensitive from the first bite.
