Shopping your closet??
What a great question!
I've been wondering how others are handling this. I own a wardrobe in sizes 10-22. In December, a month before surgery, I went down to my basement and emptied all of the boxes of clothes and laid them out on the shelf, lined up by size. My favorite jeans are a size 10 and I can't wait
I have one sweater from Quacker Factory (QVC) that I am crying over.
It's a size 2X and two of me could fit in it because she sizes things so generously that I think it's really more like a 3X - it was always a bit big. They don't carry it anymore so I can't buy another one in a smaller size like I did the Halloween sweater I bought from them. It's the cutest sweater ever, black with bright chenille cats along the bottom and bright paw prints out of the same chenille yarn here and there on the body of it. I'm going to take it to a lady that sews and see if maybe there's a way to make it smaller.
I wasn't going to buy anything until I got down to the size 10, but I haven't been able to restrain myself. Now I'm trying to sell barely-worn clothes on ebay.
The problem with the clothes I'm fitting into now is that they come from the era when tight ankles were in. I always preferred straight-leg, but there was a time when all of the legs were tapered and you couldn't get anything else. Since being diagnosed with lymphedema, my already chubby legs are even chubbier, and so the lower portion of the legs of these pants are too tight even though I've lost weight. Sigh...guess I just have to go buy the current style that has full legs. But I only bought 4 pair so I can get through the week without being broke when it's time to go into the 14's.
I shopped on Chadwicks.com and bought 15 pieces for $120 by shopping only the clearance stuff. It can be done!
The stuff that's too big is going away as I slim out of it - I don't want fat clothes around. Some of it I'm selling on ebay, and others I'm bagging up and donating to the local thrift shop. My favorites, like that cat sweater, I'm going to find a way to restyle and keep.

Tiffany,
I pulled out sizes 26-30 and put them on ebay. A lot of the clothes still had tags and went for almost retail. I made over $400 last week alone with 25 auctions. Not too bad for a stay at home mom.
I haven't sold anything on ebay in years since I was working so much. Now, I am loving it. I also just got new khaki shorts, never worn for $2 plus $3.50 shipping. I'm thrilled with them.
I have been buying very little in new sizes, one pair jeans, one khaki capri, etc. just to get to next size. It's fun when they only fit for a couple weeks.
Take care!
Lisa
