Did your tastes change?
I have a few changes in mine. I could tolerate most protein shakes preop and now I have only found one I can stand. I also can't stand the taste of regular water, it feels really heavy in my pouch and tastes funny too. I used to drink about a gallon of iced tea before and now I have only had it 2 or 3 times since surgery, it tastes different to me also. The one thing I have found that hasnt changed is that I still love HOT foods and the hotter the better!!! I cook all forms of Mexican foods and that makes my life easier since it is my favorite still!! Great question!!

Stephanie we could go to lunch together and split a plate of HOT Mexican food!
Yum! I went out to lunch yesterday with a friend and she was so impressed that I ate so little. I haven't shared the fact that I had surgery, so it just looks like I have willpower. But it was SO good - a crispy taco with lots of hot salsa, a cheese enchilada with lots of hot salsa, and some refried beans and Spanish rice with lots of hot salsa...now you're probably wondering if I ate all that. I had like 2 bites of each thing and that was it. I like that I still like that stuff, but I don't like that the last couple of days I'm hungry all the time. I think that meal just had too many carbs and it's messed me up - I'll go back to focusing on protein and try to get rid of the hunger pangs.
Thanks Stephanie!!

Too bad we are so far from one another!! I could whip us some really good stuff that is HOT!!! I find the hotter it is the more I want to eat it!! sad huh? Even though I make many Mexican dishes I find ways to make them low carb, I don;t make them the way you get them in the restaurant though, I learned from my Godfather how to cook them (he was a chef in Mexico). I love the traditional stuff so much better. Well I guess if we do get to meet we will have to make a luch date to somewhere spicy!! Maybe when I go to Cali this summer we can hook up!!!

Hey Gwen,
Boy has my tastes changed. I cannot stand to look at a can of tuna, or chicken. And please please dont get me to try an egg. I have always been a huge eatter all my life and fryed chicken, huge breakfasts with eggs and loved tuna dripping in mayo but after surgery no way!!! And I have had a thing with stuff being to sweet. I was like a honey bee though before surgery so go figure. I have just about had to stick to seafood to get protein in because of the meat situation. And I loved this one choco protein that I used to drink from walmart. It was whey kind. Forget that now also. So go figure...

Interesting to read everyone's responses.
I am with Nancy...the artificially sweetened drinks like Crystal Light are far too sweet for me now. I really water them down! I bought a bunch of Profect vials (a costly protein supplement) because prior to surgery, I tolerated them well. Now I can't stand the damn things!
But I digress...
I also crave salty foods now. I still love spicy food, just like before.

Spicy food, fruit punch crystal light reminds me of Hawaiian Punch, I think i want sweets like candy but after eating a protein bar or try sf candy I am turned off...Ugh....I know it is good that I don't crave sugar to taste but the smell still gets to me. Is that odd. I can smell sugar a mile away. But when I get close to it Ugh
