Hello, need some help and questions about Jan. Trip

Hello, Thank you for your help. Ok here is what I need. My best friend is going to go with me for the Jan. Trip, We want to go to Vegas the week before or the week after. I need help with where should we stay. We want to do shopping and the Vegas thing. We are open for any ideals, This will be my first vacation ever with out my DH and my first after my weight loss. Also do we know what weekend the Jan. Trip will be I would like to book my flight. Also, I have NEVER been to CA so what all is there to do, where can I find out info with what all there is todo?
