What questions have you asked?
I asked alot about statistics (deaths) in general, but I also asked the surgeon how many patients he had lost due to complications and was touched to learn that he knew not only a number, but every single patient's name and their case from the top of his head. It was important to me to know what complications he had experienced with this surgery and what he had learned since that time. His answer to my question was what I had expected and the fact that he went into detail to explain what happened in each case was more than I expected.
I asked alot of questions about the vitamins and aftercare, as well as what to expect on the day of surgery. I received very medical based answers from him, but there is a nurse and a counselor in his office and they gave me more of an emotional based answer, which is what I wanted.
I didn't want anyone to sugar coat the process because as expected, it has been very difficult, but worth every step of the way.
Oh, I also asked about how current medical conditions would be affected by WLS. Current medications and/or therapy.
Good luck
