Hi everyone! I was just wondering who is going to support groups aside from this board? I just started to attempt to attend as many as I could recently. I have been to two in total- I know, big whoop, but it sure opened my eyes to alot of things! The first I visited was in the town my surgeon practices in, yet maybe only 30% there had him as a surgeon- others went to San Francisco or other big name towns. This group was small and unstructured... one lady who was a pre-op decided to intrude on others while speaking and made sure they heard her instead of she listening to them.... She had to leave early, and Thank Goodness, when she left the tension left also and we had a grand ol' time. I went to another meeting that is about 30 minutes south of me, where I go to school. This group was low key and laid back. About 15 were there and all diferent stages- 2 week post op to 4 years and one friend This group was very informational and I think I clicked better with them than the Modesto group, but it could have been that one lady too. Each group had different points of view and individuals in attendance who could offer their help. I found it quite interesting, to say the least. The next meeting I am planning to attend is May first... this one is hosted by my surgeon and they have a clothing exchange as well... everyone knows how we need clothes! LOL I just hope I can get there since that's the first day of our County's spring fair! Anyone else go to meetings? *~*Jaci*~*

My surgeon has a monthly support group at the hospital where I had surgery. I have been going since surgery. I have learned a few things. I also get to see my cousin there. She had surgery 2 yrs. ago this July and has lost over 200 lbs. 337/271/150

Jaci, I have been to two groups and plan to attend one of them regularly. The last meeting was while Gracie was in the hospital ... needless to say. I was at the hosp and not the support group. My surgeons group is TOOO BIG, the one time I attended, there must have been 40 plus people there. To many people for me! God Bless, Jen

I did, but they weren't very "supportive". I get more support on this board, to be frank (or joe). Chele

I haven't really got the time, I can barely fit in my gym sessions as it is. The gym is more important to me right now. So you guys are it for me. And I love you guys!!! Dana

My doctor's group has one for those more than 3mos post op and it meets once a month. I'd like to check it out but it only meets at night and I can't drive at night (blind as a bat).
