Appetite increasing

Does anyone feel like their appetite is increasing? Mine certainly is and I am actually feeling real hunger now where I didn't before. Must be a sign that the pouch is healing and working okay. I was hoping this wouldn't happen until I was a year out. Karen S.

My appitite came back full force about 2 months out. My nutritionist logs onto fitday to check what I'm eating, and she emailed me telling me I was eating too much food. I've tried hard to cut back and use portion control. But sometimes I need to snack. It's harder that I work from home too, that fridge calls me all day long... Bridget

Hi Bridget, That would be hard to be so close to the fridge at home! Maybe it's time to chain it up - hee. I guess we have to learn to control or overcome these obstacles as they will be returning and we have to deal with them. At least I know I am not the only one feeling this way. Good for you on at least trying to cut back and watch your portion control. That's a step in the right direction! Karen S.

Karen, I'm hungry most of the time now and it's really annoying. I thought I wouldn't be hungry anymore. I try really hard to focus on protein at meal time and not to snack but it's really hard - I thought it would be easy once the surgery was done I'm still very glad I did this though because it is easier than it was before - I just had this thought in my head that I'd be one of those people who had the weight just fall off after surgery without having to do anything.

Gwen you sound exactly like me right now. I guess we are in this together!!! I have to agree, it is much easier with the surgery but it does take some work. Thanks. Karen S.

I think it's to be expected because the swelling in our pouches as a result of the surgery is decreasing. Sometimes I feel VERY hungry and other times, I could care less. I just can't get a handle on it. Chele

Chele, That makes perfect sense to me. Wish the swelling would come back - hee. I guess it's good that we aren't hungry ALL of the time. Karen S.

Hey Larry, Just like all the other guys said. I really do consider myself lucky, hell my only complication was an infected Lap incision. Thanks for sharing your story, I really look up to you and DX since you guys are that small percentage of people that the surgery didn't go so smoothly for in the begining. Take care my friend.

Not really. I guess I'm lucky. I am hardly ever hungry. The only time is when my blood sugar is really low. In fact I woke up early this morning (at 1 am) with my tummy growling and thinking to myself, "that's weird, I'm hungry." I took my blood level and sure enough, I was really low - only 45 Normal is 70-115. I had to chomp some glucose tablets and then ate a Qsmart bar! I haven't eaten in the middle of the night since surgery.
