Topic: Let me introduce myself

My name is Deborah and my surgery is January 28.  Very scared and excited all at the same time.  I've researched so much over the last few months and right now it's all I think about.  It's good to know that I'm not the only one thinking this way . I look forward to a slimer year.

Anyone else scheduled for Jan. 28?

Deborah

Topic: I'm home

Greetings January Board,

Just wanted to let you know that I am home and doing well.  No complications, some pain but we know that.  Now just going to rest and take it easy.  I will post more as I can.

Thanks for your thoughs and prayers, they went to the hospital with me and I even shared them with a couple of ladies who were having surgery the same day as I did but knew nothing of our website.  They do now!!!

Always,
Barb

Topic: First post --- surgery scheduled for January 27!

I am scheduled for wls on Januray 27, I have visited this site many times and really have benefited from all who have posted information here.

I have not mentioned my surgery to any of my family members, I didn't want to deal with all their negative comments.  I only told two close friends and heard an ear full from one of them.  The one who gave me the ear full weighs 128 and thinks that she is fat?  go figure...................if she only new what being fat is truly like, she would think she was fat.

I can't believe that my surgery date is only weeks away.  I am getting a little nervous, but I have a great doctor doing the surgery and I have faith that God will be with both Dr Gagne and myself during the surgery.

Hang in there!

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I had my WLS on Tuesday the 6th.  It does get better.

Well back safe and sound.  Surgery went well.  Very dry mouth with thick saliva while in hospital.  The pain was handled somewhat by the pump they give you...however they found out during the first night that for some reason morphine doesn't work on me and had to switch to another drug.  All tests went well!  Arrived home Thursday by 12 pm - that's when the real pain started.  For those who haven't had surgery, enjoy the pain pump!  Although I had liquid loratab for home it took hours to get the pain as managed as it was in hospital.  It isn't severe but does feel like someone has taken a baseball bat to your midsection and the gas the fill you up with causes sharp pains in chest and abdomen.  Luckily my bowls woke up within a few hours of being home which helps tremendously with the pressure you feel.  Good luck to everyone about to take the journey and to those brothers / sisters who've just taken the journey with me.

I'm not super hero status either. I'm also having mine on 1/20.  But I do hear that the RNY is less painful then a c-section (which I've had).  You don't have to be super hero :)  You can get through this fine!

I was not offended by your post and it did in fact help me. I have been struggling so hard with this liquid diet and everything you said made so much sense that I was like "duh!! Were you really thinking of cheating and eating something???" So, while I'm sorry she was very upset about what you said, I'm glad you said it. I have not cheated on my liquid diet and your comment about if you can't get through this liquid diet, then you're not ready for surgery really is sticking with me and is helping me to be stronger then I've ever been in the past when it comes to say no to food.

You slapped me upside the head when I needed it, so I say, thank you for being brutally honest.
