Linn,
Our home in CA was 44 years old. We did a lot of changes in the 18+ years we lived there. Never in our wildest dreams did I ever imagine owning a new home with a pool. Cost of living is so much less here than in CA, such a blessing.
I think no matter where we live or how old the house, we can always make it a "home".

Mary,
Looks like you all had lots of fun! Your house is beautiful, and the pool looks so inviting...
We're still a few weeks away from being able to have a party, but I'm hoping our old house will look presentable soon!

Wanda,
I have also noticed lately that some of the jeans and shirts I wear seem looser than they have for months. My exercise routine HAS changed lately, but we also just bought a house. Maybe being so busy around that has made more of a difference than I had thought.
I do feel like my muscles are becoming more defined, so that may be the difference - less fat, more muscle, but the same weight.

Julie,
Thank you. We had such a good time and so much fun.
I think if I lived in a colder region and was building a pool, that I would put in a swimspa instead of a pool. Here we can use our pool about 6 months of the year, but would love to use it year round. Our pool is 3 1/2 feet to 5 feet deep. It has 12,000 gallons of water in it. They told us to heat it in the winter (gas heater) would cost approximately $400 a month!!!! That's way out of my budget for sure. A swimspa (narrower and not as long) is where you can swim against a current. It is 4 feet deep so the right depth to do water aerobics etc. They are suppose to be cheaper to run etc. Be sure to double check on type of heating for the pool or swimspa ... gas is much more affordable than electric and some people swear by the solar heating systems. There are some great pool information magazines like: Pool & Spa Living magazine. I got my first copy at a Barnes & Noble store and now subscribe. It doesn't come out every month -- new issue is out now.
Good luck in your house hunting and/or pool building.

I also went to look at the pictures. The house and pool look great...I'm so glad you like it there. And it looked like you were having a wonderful time. How awesome is it that you moved quite a distance, and still have found yourself a great group of friends so quickly? Of course, it helps when you're nice yourself!!!! (You look great, BTW!).
We're talking about putting in a pool, but trying to decide if we want to downsize first so right now we're house hunting. The way it's looking, we may wind up staying where we're at after all. I'm thinking maybe the pool next summer. Can't wait!

Wanda ... thanks. We did have a wonderful time. The group has decided to get together monthly and that will be so great. The house has quickly become our home and we truly love it here. Mary

Julia ... You must be so proud having gotten down to the weight you were when you got married. Congratulations. 108" lost is wonderful .... Paula

How interesting that you'd ask now; it must be pretty normal. I just noticed Friday that a skirt I wear often felt loose and when I measured, I had dropped another inch in my waist and 1/2 inch from both upper arms and both calves although my weight hasn't changed in over 4 months. I float between 145-149 from day to day. Also, my husband told me this morning that he thinks I'm thinner than he's EVER seen me. My weight is the same as when we got married, but I too, think that my shape is different and I've lost body fat that I ALWAYS carried in my hips and legs even when I was younger.
Total inches lost is 108. Whopee!

111 inches lost is awesome! It will be interesting to find out if you have in fact lost more since your move. Now, to find that darned tape measure! I know what you mean.... I still have boxes upstairs that haven't been unpacked, and I've been in my house eight years! That's pitiful, isn't it! My husband tells me if I haven't needed whats in them by now, I never will. He does have something there!
