OK Jody, you have peaked my interest. I love to dance and this sounds like fun. I went to Amazon.com and did a search for the product. Many items came up .... which one(s) do you have, what do you recommend? Mary

Deb, Carbs cause water retention which may be the reason you are seeing an overnight weight gain. Congratulations on going to Curves. That is wonderful. Mary

I have found the greatest workout ever! DDR - Dance Dance Revolution on the Playstation 2. It's a videogame with a mat that you lay down on the floor in front of your tv and you follow the dance moves that appear on the tv screen. I do that for 90 minutes a day then do weight training but have been kinda lazy in the weight training dept for the past week having only gone twice. DDR - check it out!

My tastes have changed for the worst--CARBS. Pre-surgery, I didn't eat much bread or chocolate--now thats all I want. Don't even let me pass a Krispie Kreme Doughnut store!!! The only thing that is really good for me (as far as protein goes) that tastes the same as before surgery is grilled steak. Nothing turns my stomach except for protein bars & drinks.

UCLA was GREAT with my care. I truly know I was in good hands there. Your doctor sounds WONDERFUL!!! Lots of positive thoughts coming your way and more hugs too. Mary

Mary, Thank you. I needed those hugs tonight. I'm glad to hear they took good care of you at UCLA. I am going to see the head of plastic surgery on Tuesday. Can't get any better then the doctor who teaches in a well respected medical school, I'd say!! Thanks, Paula

Oh Debbie...You just jogged my memory. Last year I was talking about trying for the show. Boy, I have plenty for them to work on!! I am going to check that out again. Thankfully I never had reconstruction after my mastectomy in 98. It is a law that insurance has to cover it, including the other breast. At UCLA they'll be able to do a tummy tuck too as they will use my excess tissue to reconstruct both breasts. Wish they could add a little fat to my cheeks!! Thanks, Paula

Snow, did you say snow!!!! Oh my gosh. We started using the outdoor pool here last week. It's been in the 80s and 90s already. Each of us needs to find an exercise that we like and liking it makes it easier to do/accomplish on a regular basis. I do like the stationary bike, swimming, walking, and dancing. So have a few choices that work for me. It does sound like you have quite a busy schedule. Mary

Paula, How awful that your doctor would say such a thing to anyone, especially his patient!!!!! I had my WLS surgery and UCLA and the care there was GREAT!!!!! I hope your appointment goes well. What a wonderful friend. I think so much of the post-op journey deals not only with food, but our emotional eating side. When we get off track, like your daughter has, it is hard to get back on especially if it has been for a while. Sending you hugs. Mary

Topic: RE: Question of the Day-Monday
Paula, By heating the Matrix, are you destroying some of the protein in it? Some protein powders are not to be heated (I thought). I like the Matrix also. Take vanilla, 8 oz of water, 1/2 cup of frozen berries, 1/2 banana (sometimes) and blend till thick and creamy (like a milkshake). Very good that way. My mom did protein drinks and she always made hers up and then froze them. Ate them ice cream and loved them that way. I like the Uturn Bars cold, but also room temperature. I never thought to put them in the freezer. So I just took a French Vanilla Power Crunch bar and put it in the freezer. Will let you know how it is tomorrow. I like the Power Crunch bars but have found they are not filling enough for me as a meal replacement. They are not as dense I guess as the UTurn bar. After eating a power crunch for a meal, I found that I was still wanting something else. They work great tho as a snack item. I, some days, eat more than one bar BUT if I am doing as a meal replacement or to get in more protein, then I don't see it as a problem. IF the bars are talking to me and causing me to want more and more, then that is addictive behavior and would be a problem. So if eaten to get in protein, OK ... but if eaten as a compulsion/treat item then not OK. Does that make sense???? Mary
