Topic: RE: Trouble Eating Eggs
Hi there Angela. I loved eggs before, and luckily am still able to eat them now. BUT, for some reason the only time I ever got an upset tummy was when they weren't scrambled. I tried to make an egg over medium and that didn't go well. But scrambled eggs I eat all the time. They say your taste buds will change and your tolerance to food. A lot of people have trouble with bread, dairy products, beef, and eggs. Sorry to hear you have this problem. I'd give it a month or so and try again, there will be tons of changing going on from what I hear as far as food tolerance.

Hi Connie. Nothing wrong at all! Everyone is different and everyone loses different. Glad you're looking at it the right way and continuing your doc's routine. I am 8 weeks out and I am down 41. Congrats to you!

My surgery was 2/22/07 and to date I have lost 24 lbs. I have been very unhappy about the weight loss. I guess I believed prior to surgery the weight would just flow off (like 8 lbs./week). That was just wishfull thinking. I weigh myself once a week (Friday) and usually only see a 1-2lb. weight loss. So those of you who have lost over 30 lbs. and are at a stall, don't fret I'm told its going to come off and we will all end up in the same place within the same time fram. Hugs, Connie

I am 7 weeks out and down 24 lbs. Something seems wrong considering everyone else is down a lot more than that. However, I will keep doing what the doc says and hope to catch up with you in the next few months. Hugs, Connie

Almost at 9 weeks out and I've lost 50 pounds according to a scale at regular doctor's office. I don't go back to my WLS doc till May 2nd. And that is my offical scale that I am using to keep up with my weight loss. My surgery was 2-5-07. I keep getting sick with one thing or another. Anyone else running into that? Charlotte

Tomorrow I will be 8 weeks out from surgery and I've lost 55lbs! Yeah! I'm at another little stall right now but now that I know stalls really do pass I'm not so freaked. How are my fellow Febs. doing?

Topic: RE: HELP!
Ok, you asked for it straight so here it is, I am not trying to be a bad person but I want to tell you that you are eating the wrong things for snacks. You shouldnt be having gum and mints, etc. You should try almonds, cashews, if you must have snakcs. I suggest staying away from breads completely! Have the slice of cheese but no bread. My Dr. said no pasta, rice or breads because they have no nutritional value and are empty calories. I had my surgery on 2/20/07 and have lost 46lbs so far, I was stuck a few times but started loosing again. If you keep snacking all day you will always think you need to. IT'S OK TO FEEL HUNGRY. What I do is put a scoop of protien powder in my coffee in the morning(23gr of protien) and make a shake to take to work with me. I make enough for two servings, have one around 9:30-10:00 for breakfast(snack) and then the other for lunch. They taste good and I make them last about 15 minutes each time. Around 2:30-3:00 I get the feeling of snacking and I try to find a handfull of nuts or something, if I dont find anything, I just dont snack. I know its hard to deal with because I am just like the rest of us and was used to never being hungry because all there is to snack on at my work is junk food, it never ends! The munchies usually subside about 20 minutes later and I get occupied in my work. For dinner I only have the protien part of it, I always cook a full meal for my family for thier nutrition, but I sit with only the meat part and take 15 minutes to get it down. You need to know that YOU ARE IN CONTROL! When you feel weak at work, take a walk around the parking lot. You get in some excersize and you can clear your mind of the bad food thoughts. I am not coming down on you and I dont want you to think you cannot succeed at this because YOU CAN SUCCEED! Use this tool that the surgery has given you and work on changing your lifestyle habits. It has been hard for all of us and we are here for your support! I think you really need to get the shakes in as a part of your diet plan, I buy a Whey Protien powder(chocolate flavor) at WalMart and the make fruit punch and vanilla too. They are higher in protien than the slimfast or atkins shakes. YOU CAN DO THIS! I have confidence in you, change your habits and keep me posted.

Topic: RE: How many calories and update on weight loss
I had my surgery on 2/27/07 and have lost a total of 33 pounds in the first 3 weeks. I have been on a stall for the last 3 weeks. I have lost a lot of inches, but no pounds. since I have been back to work, I have slacked off on exercise because I am so busy. I have been getting under 1000 calories per day, between 700 and 900 usually. I do not get enough fluids. I have upped my protein so I am getting at least 60 grams or more per day. I hope this will kick a new round of weight loss. I am just as frustrated! Thanks, V
