Topic: Stuck at 27 pounds
I had surgery 2-21-07 and for the past week, I've been stuck at a 27 pound weight loss. Anyone else still in the 20's? I'm trying to keep focused on the big picture but it's starting to take it's toll on my.
Thanks!

I have been going to the Y six days a week for the last 6 weeks...about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. Anyhow, the girl who checked me in told me that I should get a new picture done for my ID card because my "old" one doesn't even look like me. That picture is only a month & a half old!! So, we took the new pic...and WOW what a difference.
My husband has been working out with me, and eating like I do, and we're BOTH down 50 lbs now...so our bed feels so much bigger. We kicked 100 lbs out of our bed.
I can't believe that my husband has been able to match me pound for pound without surgery...MEN!
I'm just giddy today, and feeling really good, so excuse the overly upbeat post!

Topic: RE: Food Question for Kruger Patients
I am close to 5 weeks out and have lost 34lbs. My docter has me eating only protien and cooked veggies at this point. I can eat any tye of meat I want, just limit beef to twice a week. I cut it up small and chew well. I have not had any problems eating like this. I just started to eat the meat chopped (rather than pureed) and the cooked veggies were added this wek. Nothing is making me sick. I can tolerate everything so far. Now that I am able to add cooked veggies, I have alot of selctions. I have not needed to try frozen meals yet. I will on occassion when I return to work. I was told to try to eat 70 grams of protien a day. That usually puts me at 550-650 calories/ day. Sometimes it inches up to 750. I find that I am able to eat more when I work out hard. I am trying to control the desire to eat til I feel full. I am one of the exceptions - - I get hungry! Although, it doesn't take much to feel content. Tonight I will stuff zuchini with cooked ground turkey with Italian spices and chopped tomates. I top it with a bit of cootage cheese. What a treat after 4 weeks of no veggies!

Turkey,fish/seafood works best for my VSG...chicken is too dry, lots of foam and upchucking. The booze has tons of sugar in i****ch out!

being 7 weeks out you should be able to eat any solid foods without pureeing them. What has your Dr. said about the diet you should be on? I am 5 weeks out and I am on any solid food except...any breads, noodles and tortillas. He said steer away from steak(pardon the pun) and stick with pork, chicken and turkey(kind of dry), fish and seafood. I havent tried frozen meals due to all the preservatives and added stuff. I dont know if this helps but I would get with your Dr. to make sure.
Topic: RE: Puree Questions??
I'm at 4 weeks post-op and have been on soft protein for about 3 weeks. I haven't had to puree anything. Just mince it up with a fork and chew really well. I found I wasn't ready for beef and pork yet....possibly to dry?? Plain eggs are boring! I love chicken and egg salad. Haven't tried tuna yet but salmon with a bit of mayo is great. Revivalsoy.com has some great soy chips that go good with the mayo salads. A single serving bag gives 7 gms of protein. Of course, the bag lasts 2-3 days as I only eat 5-6 chips with each meal of salad.

The biggest thrill I have had so far is when my husband told me "Honey you have a waist!" The second one is in progress --- my grandaughter (8 years old) asked me if when I am skinny if she can call me "skinny Grandma" instead of Grandma Friesen". I told her she could but that she has to decide when I am "skinny". I am waiting for that day.
Even my boss (male) has noticed my weight loss and asks me how I'm feeling and how the loss is going.

I am 7 weeks out and looking for some better food choices- I am so done with cottage cheese, yogurt,Shakes Ect. I am not looking for anything illegal just something different.
I am curious what anybodies feelings on any type of frozen meals??Do you think that will be allowed?
I am thinking about American Chop suey too. I figure somewhat soft - By the way I have no negative reactions to foods so far. I eat chicken and turkey not pureed which I know is against the rules but I chew it very well.I have been making some cheese quesadillas at home and don't have a bad reaction to the torillas but am afraid to try straight bread.
Any ideas???

Topic: RE: My wieght loss stalled =(
I know I'm replying to myself, but I wanted to share that I'm going into week 4 of a stall, but my personal trainer re-did the body fat percent test on me again today and I've lost 3% body fat DURING this stall. I went from 51% fat to 48% fat. This is the first time my body has been less than half fat in the last 5 years.
So, I'm not losing weight, but I am losing fat... I must be shrinking and gaining muscle. I can't complain about that, right?
It'll eventually start again.
