Topic: RE: Laying on my sides
I feel ya. I had the same surgery about a week before you and I have never slept on my back before surgery. I can't sleep that way actually. I noticed about a week ago that I woke up on my side and then the next night on my stomach. It was finally comfortable to go back to normal sleeping positions for me and I was so excited. Now I can sleep on my stomach(as I always have) without any pain. Every once in awhile I'll feel the pressure, but it's just a matter of shifting position a little. Best wishes and sweet dreams! I'm a January girl (6 weeks post op) and I am still worn out by evening. I have a girlfriend who is 1 year post op (RNY) and she told me it took her 3 months to get her energy back. I think initially it's the surgery itself that wears us out but after that your body is still adjusting to the small amount of nutrients you take in even though you take vitamins. I feel great for the most part, but come 8 or 9 pm I'm worthless...and I have to take naps during my lunch hour at work just to stay focused when I am awake. Lori

Topic: Laying on my sides
I can finally lay on my side when I sleep without feeling funky! I had lap RNY two weeks ago today and am down 21 lbs.! I was getting so tired of sleeping on my back to the point it was really getting uncomfortable. Last night I tried snuggling my hubby laying on my right side and didn't feel like things were "moving and sliding". I was so excited that I had to try the other side too! Thank God I can finally sleep like a normal human being! The things we take for granted!

I had RNY two weeks ago today and I don't have that feeling. Maybe you should give your surgeon a call this morning and ask. Maybe it's a matter of scar tissue forming or something. I have numbness at one of my incisions on my stomach and can't quite get used to the feeling (or the lack of) I don't know what you are supposed to do after Lap-Band but with RNY it is sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk. Maybe a little walking will help too. Just a little suggestion off the top of my head! Hope that helps! Chris

This must be a normal physical reaction to abdominal surgery. I had my surgery on the 28th and my tummy feels the same way and I don't even have a lap-band! I was telling my DH that the firmness feels like there is a tennis ball or something in there. It's a really weird feeling indeed! I'm on the sofa beside you! Pass the remote! (hehehe)

Same here my surgery was Feb. 5th. I can't keep up with my lifestyle anymore. I work for 4 hours and I'm ready for a nap. Went and got groceries today, wore out by the time I got home. I am tired and have no energy. But then when I lay down I just lay there for a while. You'd think if I was so tired I would pass out. Well I don't. And I'm only sleeping a good 4 hours at night. The rest of the time I'm tossing and turning. But I do know they said this was all normal. I don't remember what they said on how long it last. But I will find out when I go for my post-op visit on March 21st. Everyone just try and hang in there, that's what I'm trying to do. Just taking one day at a time. Good Luck, Charlotte

I know just how you are feeling, so believe me you are not alone. I 'm a month post-op and I still get my times when I'm feeling tired. I called my doctor and I was told that this is normal, so hearing that did reassure me . We all just had major surgery and we are loosing weight on a daily basis, and at the same time trying to keep all our fluids, protein....etc...so I guess we just have to take it one day at a time. I wish eveyone well this week. Have a great one!! Stephanie

I had lap-band surgery 11 days ago and my stomach feels a little swollen, numb, warm and a little...FIRM? where the top of the band tube is. Is this normal or am I totally overracting. I have no fever, but it feels wierd. I thought I would be able to resume normal activities by now, but my stomach feels so sore and wierd that I don't want to get off the sofa. Please help! thanks

Topic: RE: 20 pounds in 20 days!
I'm 17lbs down 16 days post op. There is only one pair of pants that I have that show any sort of difference in feel, and oddly they are the newest pair of pants I own. I wonder if this is because all my "old" stuff is shrinks so much when I wash them. Anyway, as it turns out I have a wedding to go to this Friday and I was FLABERGASTED to find out that I fit into a 28 plenty well (I was a 32 last time I went shopping, putting me out of most Plus size stores for my area.) Sometimes it's a fresh perspective that can really show you. Good luck. I too had the lap band and love hearing other lap-band recipients stories. Thanks for posting.

I am right there with you. I am 18 days out and can hardly stay awake. I can't do any of the fun things my mind wants to do. I don't hurt and I'm not nauseated, but I am sooo fatigued. I can't believe how tired I am. And of course, at midnight, I'm up and can't sleep. I really want to just feel normal. I guess I can be patient but this is really hard.
