Im 2.5 weeks out and have lost 23lbs as of this morn. I have seen a slow down this week though. I think we lose a ton of water weight early on then slows..

Topic: I'm HOME!!!
My surgery on Wednesday (2/28) went off without a hitch! I am finally switched! (hey that rhymes!) I didn't have any complications during my stay either. I was up walking around a few hours after they moved me to my room. The only problem I had was with the IV (which is ALWAYS a problem for me with my tiniy veins). And my period had nerve to show up 2 weeks early! UGGH! But other than that, all was fine! So far, so good and all has been okay. I FINALLY passed a little gas this morning so now I can start my pureed diet. Now I'm hoping my first BM won't be far behind. I'm just glad to be on the LOSING BENCH!!

Hi, this is my first post too. I had my surgery just a day after yours. So far, so good. But I'm hungry and can't wait to have real food again (I was on liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op too).

Topic: One Week Tomorrow Since Surgery
This is my first post since joining before my RNY surgery. The pain was, at first, horrendous - far more than I anticipated but, the last 3 days has gotten steadily better. I'm having trouble sleeping in my bed, too. I can't imagine going back to work in a couple of days as one of you has mentioned. So far, so good!

thanks for the welcome Brooke, so nice to hear from you. Everthing has been going really well, no unsual effects or reactions. Although I have been panicky about thrombosis, my uncle is a Dr. and sort or put a scare in me about it. Getting up and walking around every hour or so...plus takiing shots for it. How are things going for you? All the best to you!

Hi Colleen, Glad you had a successful surgery. Try ground turkey, using cream of mushroom soup as the liquid when pureeing. Also try the ground turkey with spaghetti sauce. I also pureed chicken and added light mayo and pickle juice. I hope that helps. Kim

Hi Charlotte, I am so sorry you are having a hard time of it. I haven't had these problems but see if diluted prune juice is OK for you to try to help with the BM issue. Have you tried that Special K Protein Water? I think it's fairly new but it tastes great...no artificial sweetner after taste. As for the pain see if the liquid Tylenol is OK. I hope this helps, during one of my pre-op counseling sessions, I remember being told that it's common to 'second guess' our decision to have WLS. I did too, even though I haven't had the problems you have had. Hopefully all your issues will get better soon but if it gets to the point where you can't stand it, DEMAND to have a long talk with your Dr.
