I agree with Lori, walking will help get rid of it.
Also, don't use straws! That is the worst thing you can do if you are. I made that mistake the day I went home and I felt horrible and really bloated from the gas. I stopped drinking out of a straw and felt 100% better since then. I also used gas x but I'm not sure it helped at all. They have gas x strips that you can dissolve on your tongue like breath strips now!

You're still on liquids? I thought my doc was strict! I only had 1 week of clear and 1 week of full liquids.
I also had surgery Feb 5th and have recently had problems with nausea after I eat.
I find that if I eat really slow it helps a lot. Also if you feel really bad try lying on your left side and it usually passes pretty quickly.
I agree with the warm fluids, I don't do well with really cold water.
Topic: BM problems!!!!-question?
Ok my surgery was on Feb 5th and I am having problems having a BM. Is anyone else having this problem? I have only went one time since my surgery and I had to be admitted to the hospital for that. So they could get me going. My bowels seem to be working I have some gas. But nothing like everyone talks about. I'm on stool softner but still nothing. The first time I went 2 weeks before going to the ER in pain. Now its been 6 days. I feel like crap all the time. I was suppose to go back to work on wednesday but backed out because I feel so bad. Next question should I call my doctor tomorrow and tell them whats going on? Or should I just keep dealing with it myself? I thought I would try a fleets tonight, but thats what put me in the ER last time. I'm a little scared. Am I ever going to have a BM on my own again? Just wondering if anyone else is going through this?

Danny,
My surgery too was on Feb 5th. I haven't bounced back as good as you. I still haven't returned to work yet. But what I thought was strange is I had sever nausea today. I have it on and off all the time. But today was different. I had muscle spasms around my abdomen and my back. I had layed down because I did not feel well at all. About 1:00 I got up and my mouth was dry. So I took a sip of room temp tea. I went and sit on the couch and felt it coming back up. I ran to the bathroom and washed my face. I never got sick, I calmed myself down. But I tried to ground up my nausea meds, I got it ground but was too sick to get it mixed up to take. So I crawled back to bed with a washcloth on my face. I slept for a little while longer. When I got up I was very weak and a little nauseas. My husband got my meds and I felt better. But I still don't know why I was hurting so bad and got so sick so fast. So I guess a long story short tell your sis to get off you case, cause it's normal. I have not pushed myself at all and this still happened. I'm ready to get back to my normal life. Hope you get to feeling better.

Topic: First bad day
OK.....two and half weeks out and I have had ZERO problems until today.
I have been nauseated today unlike anything since surgery on the 5th. I give it an 8 of 10 score!!!
Now, I have to admit that my diet has begun to progress very well. I have started to introduce a few things like fish and chicken that are ground well with water as opposed to pureed. Example: Wolf brand chile (Mild - NO BEANS) pulsed a couple times in the blender, grilled cod filet pulsed with no extra liquid added. I have had absolutely zero problems until today.
I was woken up by nasuea this morning. Tried sipping some room temp water and did well. That made me realize I was THIRSTY!!!! I have fallen in love with my warm decaf tea and coffee. Can easily get down 6 - 8 oz in about 30 minutes and it feels great! So......got some coffee and yep, felt better. Took my morning protein drink and hit the road for work. Things got progressively worse through today even to the point that the mere thought of eating anything at all made me want to yack!!!
Came home from work early, decided I would make a small, warm version of my protein drink. That went down well (about 8 oz and 14g pro) and I again felt better.
I have had no solids today and am feeling better now. I have muscular soreness around my ribs and back, but I think that's from staying kinda withdrawn and guarding a lot today.
My nausea is lessening now, prolly 4 of 10. I think I may use a little pain medicine (which I have only had a total of 4 doses since getting home) to go to bed and sleep with and see how I do in the morning.
Anything similar or any suggestions? I think maybe, I've just been pushing to hard and needed to ease back a little? Am I just whining?????? If so, don't tell my sister cuz she says that's not allowed!

BJ dont over do it! Moving boxes and eatins strawberries one week post op isnt the norm that i read on these forums. PLease be careful and follow your surgeons guidelines regardless of how good you feel today.

Hey Crystal,
I'm sure you're getting ready for your surgery on Friday -- I just came out of the hospital today. Go in with a spiritual and positive minde and have fun with the nurses after you wake up -- that makes things a little easier. When one of the nurses ended her shift, she came in and gave me a hug -- that was so sweet of her.
When you get up and home -- let us hear from you.
Topic: The Surgery was a Success :jump:
Well I have to Praise God because the surgery went well and the nurses and nurses assistants at GBMC were AWESOME!
I went in Tuesday morning -- the first one on the table so Dr. VR was fresh and ready to go. I have had very little pain and the only night I used the pain pump was the night after surgery. The next day I wasn't sure if it was pain or gas so I didn't use the pump. Of course you have to pass gas in order to be discharged -- and was I glad that happened. My stomach feels like someone that just started doing situps again and I guess that's why my pain doesn't feel so bad. I've taken very little pain medication; however, we'll see what the night brings.
I'm home now and trying to move around as best I can without being sedentary too long. Its a too breezy to be going outside to walk about so its up and down the hall in the apartment. We'll see what type of weather Friday brings.
Thanks to everyone that sent well wishes and prayers.
