Welcome home! I had the same problem with gas, and the best way to ease the pain is by walking. I got out and walked to the end of my street atleast 3-5 times per day in the first week after my surgery and it helped, but I really didn't start feeling "better" until after I was able to have my first BM.

You don't have anything to make a BM. You might get a teaspoon or two of the fiber that mixes in water, is not gritty and is tasteless and see if that helps any. i've been using it and it does help.

Shelley,
I was having a lot of problems with nausea as well, and my nurse told me that it can be a sign of dehydration. They wrote me a Rx for phenergan to help, and told me to make sure I was getting at least 80 oz of water/day. That's just a HUGE amount, because I can't "chug" a glass of water like I used to. So, I keep a water bottle by my side and sip ALL day long. It really has helped. I've only had to take the phenergan 3 times.
She said that everyone has to get in at least 64 oz, but since I'm still nursing my just-turned-1 year old, I need to get an extra 16 oz to replace what he's taking.
Hope that helps,
Rae

Hi,
I'm only 2 weeks post-op and I know jsut how you feel .I had the same problem as you did with the gas. I just made sure that I walked as much as possible around the house...and that would really help ALOT with the gas. And as far as the liquids it get better as the days pass you see that your fluid intake will get better.

Topic: RE: Head Cold
Well, I went to the Dr yesterday to ensure it wasn't a sinus infection or something. He said my lungs & ears are clear but he gave me a prescription for antibiotics "just in case" to clear anything up that might be trying to start. I figure if something does after Airborne, Zycam, Vit C, and Amoxacillan.....well, it just wasn't meant to be on Tuesday!
Good luck to us all!!
