Topic: RE: burning stinging pain in abdomen - 11 days post op
I have the same thing. My surgery was 29th of January. My doctor said it is the muscle and nerves healing around the internal stitches. Once the stitches dissolve the pain will go away. I am still in pain. He said it could take up to 6 weeks. It is nothing serious but I tell ya it hurts whenever I move. Good luck I know exactly how you feel!!!

Topic: Hi Everyone, I am new here.
My surgery date is Feb 28th. I am excited and so far I am not nervous at all. If anyone has any advice for feel free to give it to me. I look forward to chatting with everyone. I am a mother of four. Two girls and two boys. I am a stepmom to the boys. Ages 6, 8, 13, and 16. I am an RN student, which is another important reason for me to lose this weight. I am happily married and my husband is supportive of this surgery, but he is worried. Well, I wish everyone well. Talk to ya later. Reagan ;-)

I'm 1 week post op and down 20lbs yeah! Let me give you one little advice on what can make this process easier. I blew off the 2 week fast (ate a giant bowl of Mint Choc. Chip ice cream at 9pm the night before surgery), smoked right before heading to surgery and drank soda up until 9pm the night before surgery. Giving up nicotine, caffeine and food in one day contributed to my really sucky 1st week post op. Withdrawal from these things is no joke. I literally lost my mind for about 2 days. I was put on some sort of anti-anxiety meds, slept for 2 days and finally woke up as me again. I lost my mind to the point that I told my mom to take my son because I could not care for him. I layed in bed and cried and cried. I had one nightmare after another, often screaming vulgarities so loudly my mom would run to the other end of the house to shake me awake. I shook inside and out and could not have a cohesive thought. I was terrified. Woke up today though as me again thank God! I know my will power did not allow me to do the right thing but if you have some willpower, give this stuff up before the surgery so you are not healing and withdrawing at the same time.

OK I have been the biggest cynic since having this surgery. Don't get me wrong, last week sucked! Surgery on the 12th then I went a little nutty from withdrawal from my narcolepsy medications, the pain was worse then imagined...blah, blah, blah. Then I woke up today, exactly week to the day and I was laying on my stomache. I then got out of bed ...no pain..none. My narcolepsy meds are back in whack. After not being out of the house except for the hospital for a week I took my son to the park all afternoon before my dr.s appt. Got on the scale -20lbs down!!!!

Cheri, My surgery was on Feb. 5th. I am having a lot of burning pain in that area too. My biggest incision is there and it's a hard knot. I ended up in the hospital last Thursday night for plumbing reasons and a lot of my pain was there. When I told them nothing was said. They just gave me pain meds. I also told them this when I went in for my post-op appt on 2-15. They said that was normal. But it really does burn and is very uncomfortable. If you find out anything please let me know what they say. Here's to wishing things would get better for both of us. Charlotte

I haven't had my surgery yet (27 Feb) but was told that they do most of the work from the port on the lower left side. Maybe that is what is causing it so much there. If it doesn't go aways soon or you don't hear from your Doc....I'd suggest you go in.

I felt great the Monday after my surgery which was on a Thursday up until last Friday or Saturday when I began to have soreness (like muscle ache from doing too many situps) in my abdomen around the lower left incision. There was also a hard knot under the skin there. Now that pain is not so much there...now I am having a quick burning stinging pain from that area to my navel area (the area of pain changes). If I am sitting or laying down it is okay...it is just walking or trying to sit down that it hurts. Has anyone experienced this? Do you know what it is? I have emailed my doctor but haven't heard back yet. Thanks, Cheri
