I think we had our surgery on the same day - Monday the 12th. I am lost. I'm home since Wednesday, my pain is minimal but all I do is cry. I want food! I'm not sure what a CIB is but if is those gross protein shakes, I just can't do them. I'm up all night wandering the house because I can not get comfortable anywhere. I'm grumpy and sad and basically miserable.

Today all I do is cry. I'm surprised you had so much pain with the lap band surgery. I had thought that was one of the reasons for opting for that surgery was less pain. My pain is better today but now I feel like without food, I have no life. My family just keeps going to McDonalds everyday and then there is me with my water. It is like when you have dated someone for a long time and you can not remember what you did before them. Anyway, just feeling sorry for myself I think. Take care - Bonnie

Topic: Chew it up and spit it out
Hi all. for any post op in the full liquid stage who is having trouble with wanting regular foods that your family is having, this is helping me. Whatever it is, I chew it and get all the flavor out, then I spit it out. It helps alot. I've tried blending regualr food in the blender to turn it into a liquid, it is not the same at all as having it whole. I'll stick with my few things I am enjoying........homemade broth, sf jello, sf puddings, sf italian ice, and a few other things. It is so worth it. I am 12 days out and 24 lbs down !! stay well, Cissy

Topic: Home from the hospital and feeling lousy......
Hi everyone! I got home from the hospital on thursday after being there for 4 days. I should have been out sooner but I was unable to get in all the fluids they wanted me to drink. I wasn't throwing them back up, I just wasnt getting enough in, so they kept me there on an IV. Now that I am home I feel a little less like a piece of roadkill everyday but still in rough shape. I can litterally hear the air in my stomach and bowels bubbling through several times a day. And I cannot push enough to get a good bowel movement on the toilet. (Sorry if TMI). I pray that I could have something other than a CIB or water. I did have an egg once and that was just okay. I want soup, tomato soup, or chix noodle. Why is that such a bad idea? I am calling my nutritionist on monday. I am having a tough time getting all my fluids in still, I dont think I am getting dehydrated but I know I only take in just over half the fluid I should. I just cant force anymore in, its painful. Anyone else with these issues? I want to chuck the CIB's and have four small meals like, yogurt, soup, applesauce, etc.. Why is that bad if it has protein, low sugar, and is mushy. Can I get some feedback, I am feeling pretty anxious and grumpy.

Hi I had my surgery the same day as you did and was in totally pain until yesterday. I came home on tues late afternoon and was sleeping every hour on the hour and waking up and walking around the house for a bit then going back to sleep I have been miserable. I was so excited about the surgery until I woke up in recovery and from there I felt it went all down hill. I saw the dr on thurs and he said the surgery was a total success and I have allready lost 9 lbs but I think thats due to the fact that I cant eat much without getting stomach pains. I think the water bottle idea is good when I was in the hospital the girls gace me these small foam brushes soaked in water when they dryed out I would put them in a cup during the night this aide comes in and fills the cup with ice and Im laying there thinking is this guy a jerk or what I cant eat ice or did I even have the desire to suck on the ice but funny thing was in the morning I took my foamy thing out of the cup and it was dripping with water so refreshing. When I came home from the hospital all I did was cry about the pain I felt and my dad said just remember every day the pain will get less and it has. Today I fell a bit better and am starting a bit of stage 2. I'll keep you in my thought and if you need to vent I am totally here for you.

You drink it straight then follow up with 8 oz's of water and within a few hours you should be going like you've never gone before....Just a bit of advice buy tucks medicated wipes for just in case. TMI but I spent the whole afternoon and evening in the bathroom and I was very sore. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.

Glad you are home and hope you are feeling better. A dumb question but....what is your "weight loss bible".....a food log book??

Question: do you take the magnesium citrate straight or mix it with something? I bought a bottle at WalMart. My hubby had to have a colonoscopy and they gave him some powder stuff that I mixed in water. He said there was no taste....jus****er. Wish I could have gotten that!!

Topic: RE: Liquid Diet????
Hi, I haven't been on the site for a couple of weeks (between wor, mid-terms (46 & starting college isn't easy!) & taking care of grandkids). I'm on my 6th day of the liquid. It is a lot easier than I thought! I have to agree with the others....not so bad after the first 2-3 days. Mostly a mental thing, I think, when you walk by snacks and stuff. No real hunger pains like I was afraid of. I bought the stuff off of bariatric eating.com (Dymatize Choc Mint Elite tastes like chocolate mouthwash ) and some at WalMart (Body Fortress 100% Whey Protein-Choc). Can't tell much difference in the composition but I like the taste of the WalMart stuff better (and it is cheaper) . I'm scheduled for the 27th.....10 more days!! There are a lot of emotions swirling around (fear, nervousness, excitement, etc...etc...etc...). Best of luck to all Feb WLS members.
