Topic: RE: Day 4 post-op...long post!
I didn't weight myself until about 4 days post-op because I knew that I needed to get all the fluids out of me. I was 8 lbs down from my last weight in 1 week before surgery. So I know some of that had to be some lard!

Thanks, I'm doing ok. I made myself some home made pureed potato soup that I put the unflavored whey protein in and it really helped my stomach. I also made some sweet potato soup and it worked too. After 7 days I am ready for something that isn't sweet since everything tastes too sweet or too salty right now. I am getting my meds down well in hot tea. My son has been calling it my Perco-tea for the Percoset.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm well enough to think about going out and getting some mall walking in.

My hubby is taking me but I feel so sick I dont know how Im going to feel getting in the car and going to the dr's. I'm not sure if this is the norm a friend of mine had the bypass and stopped taking the pain meds because they made her sick so I stopped taking mine on tues night and I still feel horrible. I'm just hopping the dr can give me something for the nasause.
Topic: Home from the staple removal with my first 'complication'
I was having a text book ideal surgery up until yesterday.
I went to have my staples taken out from each of the six small laproscopic sites and when the staples came out of the one on my side it popped open and spilled out fluid.
Heads up that I'm told this is COMMON.
It isn't infected, but they don't want to try to reseal it with anything because they don't want to stop the drainage from it, so I now have a 1 inch open hole in my side that is about an inch and a half deep that I have to pack with gauze 3 times a day for two weeks.
After 2 weeks it should mostly close clean. Visually it is super gross.
Heads up on this common complication.

I'm so sorry to hear it, Christina!
I hope it is something explainable that they might be able to fix with meds!
Let's hope for the best!
Can you get someone to drive you?
