Goal vs. Not yet goal survey
OK, MARCHers - who wants to play? If you want to play - let's take a survey as to who is at goal and who has some to go. Perhaps if we can find a spokesperson for "not at goal" folks yet and a spokesperson for "at goal and maintaining" - we can use this spokesman to motivate their particular group. I can take the "not at goal" folks and if you want to volunteer for "at goal and maintaining" let me know. The purpose will be to perhaps give a "daily motivational post/how are you doing/what are you eating?are you exercising" post. I know I could use some motivation to especially exercise more and eat less snacks. I have come so far and can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but am not quite to the opening yet.
So for the survey - answer what you wish!
For me - I am 41 pounds from my personal goal - have lost 139 pounds since my first consult and 111 pounds since surgery. Current weight: 240. If I get to 199 I will consider my personal goal met. I am almost 57 years old and doubt I would ever get to 165-170 - so if I get to 199 I will be happy. I am 5'9" tall so 199 will l-o-o-k good for my body type! I would rather concentrate on looking good rather than weight on the scales!!!!
I will start the motivational posts on Monday for those still pushing towards the end of the tunnel. Anybody want the "at goal and maintaining post"? Maybe those of us still trying to get there can motivate each other (as we have all been doing since March 2006) and get to our goals. The other group can keep the "at goal and maintaining group" motivated to continue their success. And we can all pipe in to each other's posts if we think we can help or sympathize or whatever!!!!
So survey away if you wish and have a wonderful weekend everybody! Hugs to you all - Barb
Ok, let's see. My doctor did not set a goal weight. He did comment that being 345, and based on the percentage, blah blah blah, I would be in the 190's and had asked if I would be happy with that. Back then, HECK YEA!!! I had set a goal for 170 lbs. Well, I am 1 lb from it. It will change though. I would still like to get to 155, but still feel that 145 would be better. It feels like a dream number though with the way the weightloss is slow now. Anyways...
Start weight at first consult was 345. So have lost 174 lbs since then.
At surgery 325, so lost 154 since surgery.
I weigth 171 this morning.
I'm 5'3", so I could use to lose a few more pounds. If I was 5'9 then I think 171 would be great!
I think for my build and height I need to shoot for at least that 155. Who would have ever thought I'd hear myself saying that I need to lose only 16lbs. LOL
Good post Barb. I'll keep an eye out for the follow ups.

I vote you for the "not at goal BUT almost there" post and Ruth Ann for the "at goal" weekly posts!
you're both great motivators and Ruth Ann your exercise posts always helped get us Marchers up and movin!
I started at 261 and now go between 125-127 (I'm a smidgen taller than 5'2", maybe a centermeter
).
I'm at goal, but very down in the dumps because of the season change.. I was diagnosed a long time ago with S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) nothing I get concerned about, it happens every year, it will pass in time...

Hi,
I can relate to the S.A.D. thing. I have never been officially diagnosed, but I have felt the effects of it for many years. I like my sunhine and really don't like the short winter days. I'm glad I work shift work so that I usually am working part of the evening hours and still get some daylight time.
Congratulations on your great weight loss.
Life is great, Rick
I will say I'm at goal
Doctor never set a goal, but my personal goal *was* 150. I got that from some chart somewhere, it was the "average" weight for a woman my age at that height. I honestly don't think I ever REALLY thought I'd get to that weight, and I'm still not that weight, but I've been maintaining 157-160 range for so long now (about 8 months) that I'm actually HAPPY at this weight, and happy with how my body looks, etc.
I'm 5'8", so 157 is a good weight for me. I'm size 8. I've been fat my whole life, so I don't even know what to do with a "normal" sized body
I weighed 145 when I was 10 years old, so being a grown woman at 157, I'm totally happy
My goal is to maintain this weight and never get over 160. As long as I stay in the 150's I'm good
Emotionally, I'm trying to adjust to this new "me". Along with moving to another state, and finding I have no health insurance or support groups or surgeon nearby to help me... yeah... I'm ok, but I'm not thriving. I'm just in the middle of a lot of changes.
