Try this: http://www.muscletech.com/CALCULATORS/CALORIE/Calorie_Calculator.shtml *According to this calculator - I should be eating no more than 1300 cals a day to lose weight at my weight. Lately - I've been going over that with bad food choices, so I've been maintaining - so I must be eating around 1800 calories to maintain my current weight. It's true - calories in, calories out! Hmmm. . . It's funny how the doc would suggest the exact opposite! Anyway - 100 G protein doesn't seem like *too much, but then again, I'm not a nutritionist/doctor. According to the calculator here: http://www.muscletech.com/CALCULATORS/PROTEIN/Protein_Calculator.shtml?image I should eat 114-149 G protein per day at my weight to *lose weight. My surgeons' office said 50 was the goal to aim for each day, though. Vastly different! TY about the pic - though, again, it's the wrong one! Beth http://www.meltingmama.blogspot.com

Way to go! You look superbly skinny! It's amazing how wonderful everyone looks after only one year. Our lives have changed in such a dramatic way.

Topic: One Year Check-Up
Yesterday, (actually 13 months to the day) I went back to Barix (formerly Bariatric Treatment Center) to see my surgeon and dietian.... I am happy to say that he was THRILLED with my success...told me that he is very happy with my weight and that if I don't lose another lb he is VERY happy.... I want to go down another 13 lbs... We discussed me needing some plastic surgery...especially a Tummy Tuck....he was VERY open to it, and reminded me that I probably will go down another 5-7 lbs with the TT...so that means I am really only 6-8 lbs from my goal... I thought that perhaps I should wait until fall, for my 18 months anniv., but he thinks I am ready now... He encouraged me to start interviewing plas. surgeons and then when I am mentally ready, I can go with it, rather than getting ready and having to interview the surgeons, etc. Also met with the dietian...she was very impressed with my printed diet log from fitday.com....that is the ONLY way I can stay on track..also acts as a reality check for what I am really eating.... At this point, I am losing only about 3 lbs per month....which is fine...I am getting close to goal.... Obviously, my visit when VERY well...I am happy with all my care from Barix. Best wishes to everyone, RAE

This is NOT an easy question...it depends on each person and their body structure, exercise level, age, metabolism (sp), etc... In my situation, I am 37 yrs old, 5'7, and am approx 8 llbs to goal....I get between 900-1400 calories per day...just depends...although I am usually closer to the 1400 than to the 900 if my days were averaged.... obviously if you still want to go lower, perhaps you could up the physical activity...do the stairs, etc.... not sure of your situation, so really I am offering only general info... best wishes, RAE

Hi, we had surgery same day, same doctor...and how weird, but I too was at BTC for my one-year check up yesterday. My app't was at 9:45 am. I'm sorry that Dr. K wasn't more supportive....I haven't had any problems with him at all...but sounds like you have very good specialists around you that completely understand your other health issues.... Not sure how you space your meals, but I eat every few hours for a total of about 5-6 meals per day....and I get in between 900-1400 calories per day...also my min. protein requirement is 75, which I typically go over each day.... Best wishes for continued succes...because although you haven't lost as much weight as you had hoped, you have LOST!!! take care, RAE

Topic: how many calories/day
OK, I'm 13 mo post op My weight loss has slowed to only a few lbs over the last few months. Ihave started keeping track of what I eat every day to include every calorie that goes into my mouth. I make sure I drink my fluids and get in enough protein, but I never worried before about cal because I stopped eating when I was full now, I seem to be able to eat more than I should. Does anyone have any idea approximately how many cals we should be consuiming?

Hey Beth, well, it seems that i consume around 100 grams per day - he wants me at around 50 grams per day..... my problem is that i'm limited to what i eat due to food allergies and intolerances so the majority of my diet has always been protien...i do eat carbs, the good ones and i eat whole fat foods instead of low fat which is recommended to me by other doctors. he was telling me to eat potatoes (baked or fried), breads and pastas. i always thought you were to eat your protien first and then others stuff so that is what i do. now he wants to reverse it because i get too much protien. i'm taking away my protien shakes and replacing them with breakfast bars...that is my main problem area as i have to have grab and go foods. bars don't hold me long and my protien shakes have always lasted till late afternoon. i'll have to consume two bars (they have less protien though) and that is what he wants. so, i'm gonna give it a try. started last night - had my first eggplant fries ever and man where they good. like a french fry but made from eggplant - fewer carbs. anyway, i'm trying to get down to 50 grams per day.....guess i'll be eating more vegi's. oh well, btw you photo looks GREAT!!
