Topic: Weird... I feel SOOOO FAT!
Okay, I have been maintaining 135 pounds for about 4 or 5 months now and just the other day I noticed I gained 3 pounds. So I immediately cut back on my carbs and started taking in more protein. I will admit sometimes I get sloppy and eat a bit too many carbs. However, that being said it's usually "good" carbs such as whole wheat or whole grain breads... and I don't have much. But I noticed I started having toast with breakfast and then a sandwich for lunch and maybe even a slice of bread with dinner. Yikes! A big NO NO.... thus the reason for 3 pound weight gain. The problem is... just gaining those 3 pounds has made me feel like a tubalard! I feel HUGE and for some reason my tummy looks really fat. I swear I look like I'm 6 months pregnant. What is up with that?? I mean I'm only 138 and I've been there before. Why do I feel and look sooooo FAT???? Plus, I will admit I'm totally freaking out because this is the first time I've gained weight. All my fears of gaining all my weight back have gripped me. I'm like "oh no, it's happening... I knew it would be too good to be true". My skinny days are over and I'm not going to be able to lose these 3 pounds. It's funny how 3 pounds feels like 30 to me. I am really frantic about all this. Anyone else go through this? If so, how did you handle it?

Seem like a lot of us are having to struggle with the snacking bug. I am as guilty as anyone! I think it was hard wired into my brain to try and put on weight going into winter-like a bear putting on fat before hibernation.
I have good days and bad days. Stress is still a major factor for me.However, many of these things are not under my control and somehow the refined carbs keep trying to be my best friend.
What is different is that I am still so active compared to before surgery. I am moving, moving, moving all the time. Even when it was raining, I put on a coat and took off down the road with the doggies. The activity is causing problems. My body feels beat to death and I have to take muscle relaxers just so I can sleep. Otherwise the pain keeps waking me up.
I am still hanging in there and weighing regularly. I go up and down the same couple pounds. I still stay pretty much at 155-156. So, maintenance is still working for me.
Accountibility is key. If I let things slide-it will start the ball rolling downhill and that is not a place I ever want to go back to. I am not perfect-trying to hold myself to a perfect standard is just a recipe for failure. Be patient with your self. People who have always been skinny also indulge now and then. They just do not let it be the beginning of an all out binge(something I always did in the past).
Stay strong A Team. Love and accept yourself!!!

Topic: RE: Just a couple of questions
I had to have my appendix removed in August-it was not related to my surgery. They actually thought I might have an internal hernia which would have been due to my surgery but when they opened me up-my bypass was clean and looked great.
I think that as we lose weight, we have to metabolize all the unhealthy things we had stored in our fat-chemicals, etc. This causes a lot of stress on our systems and we can have different kinds of issues.
I had non specific colitis before surgery. Due to our stomaches not producing enough enzymes, I take digestive enzymes. This helps with my intestinal issues. I know they work, because if I don't take them, then the problems come back.
Sounds like everything else is going great. I agree-It is very weird to have someone tell you that you are too skinny. I always look around because they can't possibly be talking about me!

Hi craig,
My hubby was RNY and has had some reflux  erossion of esphogus  issues and ulcers  post RNY but was told he should be on previcid the rest of his life due to the Fact he has so little digestive enzymes and seems once he has taken previcid  alot of his issues were resolved. He is unable to eat much meat and seems to be a carb acholic now and can drink soda etc and has no sugar dumping. he is currently holding steady at 194 he would like to lose 10 lbs but his lowest weight was 179 but I thouhgt he looked to skinny most docs say he looks good at his current weight I think he looked best at 185. Most doc told him do not lose any more weight.
His issues that he really battles is thinning of the bones Kyposis is severe, He takes reclasp once a year and was on boniva  and still lost 4% of his bone density We feel the surgery has not helped him as far as bone density issues but truely feel the surgery did not help but it was not the cause of severe osteoprosis, Just his obesity hid the fact he had the disease all along. His parents both suffer from severe osteoprosis Bad genes. I mean who would have thougt a guy 300 lbs could be capable of having osteoporious? His parents have a severe malabortion issues and they did not have RNY. He just wished he looked at malabortion  issues more closely who would think any one being 300 lbs be capable  of ever having it. He will go in for bone density test again in Dec we will see if reclasp has made a difference.
His mom had the same surgery as u did but ended up with a colostomy bag. Hubby just has diverticulitis. His parents eat like horses and cannot keep their weight above 100 lbs. his dad got down do 85 pounds and his mom 95 lbs.. What still keeps them alive is a medical mystery, No one wants to look like they do no one. So keep some meat on your bones 180 is a great place to be Keep up the gym helps pound calcium in the bones
Hope this helps some.

Well, I promised I would stop lerking, so I better post huh?
I have been fighting the flu bug or something the past week. Not much of an appetite and when I do eat, after a couple of bites I get really bad stomach cramping.
Today I weighed in at 127.
That is down 1.5 from last week.
My total weight loss is 152 lbs.
I had to buy new jeans again, this time I got a size 4!
My mother is having a fit. Says I am way to skinny now.
I dont know how to stop it though. I would be happy at 125.
Hope you all have a great week.
Love you all
Cindy
