They say not to compare...but
Hey there! I was considered a light weight to begin with: 5'2" and 221. My 8 month anniversary is coming up in a few days and I'm down to 135 which is an 86 pound loss. These past few months have been one or two pounds a month. I'm 10 pounds from goal. I've lost almost 90% of my excess weight.
You're not doing awful at all!!! I'm so glad you posted because in reality we all compare...even though we're not supposed to....I still weigh everyday...another no-no but it helps me stay on track. It's better than doing any kind of cheating any day.
Good luck to you!
Ana
Hi Victoria,
We're surgery twins - both on the 24th. Anyway, I also started out way heavier than you. I was 303 before the preop diet and 291 on the day of surgery and am 195 or 196 now. My goal weight is 135 (I'm 5'2"), so that makes my percentage lost about 64% and actual weight 107 or 108 pounds. So I've lost more pounds, but you're doing way better than me percentage-wise, which is what counts. Congratulations!
Hugs, Tracy
My surgery was 05/23/05. Starting weight 272.9, today 187. That's 85.9 lbs. I need to get to 150 but would like to get to 135. So my loss is 70% if I try to get to 150, and 62% if I can get to 135. Sometimes I feel like I'm never going to get there but seeing that others are around the 70% mark makes me feel better, like I'm still on track. You're doing great, we'll make it!
With the help of my DH I have figured out that I have lost 72% of my excess weight. I have zero math skills!!
That is starting at 243, now at 165 and a goal of 135. I am 5'3".
Sounds to me that we are all doing great! You will find that people on the message boards do well, they search out support and are intrested (sometimes obsessed..LOL) with the progress of others.

Hi Victoria.... You are doing great.... I cannot believe that your surgeon is not pleased. As all mentioned above, if you did not lose another lb. you would still be considered a success based on your percentage.... and there is no reason why you shouldn't continue to lose being only 7 months out. I know it is diffucult not to compare...but just remember that stalls are going to happen and to keep your eyes on the finish line rather than the current number. By the way... as of this a.m. my scale is reading 160 for a total loss of 89 lbs on my highest weight because I was a stressed out bad girl before surg I gained 6 lbs in the last 3 weeks!!! I was hovering around 165 for several weeks and now started losing again. SO here are my numbers.....
Preop/Surg day/Current/Goal
243/249/160/130
Best wishes for continued success!!!
Hugs, Stef
Hi Victoria! I also agree with all my Mayster buddies when I say you are doing fantastic!
I started out at 320 lbs, I am 5'11 and I now weigh 208 for a total loss of 112 pounds. I want to weigh 190 so I have 18 more pounds until my goal. I have gone from a size 26/28 to a size 16 and can almost fit into a 14. This is all beyond my wildest dreams!!
Be as proud of yourself as we all are of you!!!
