Kathy's Question of the Day
Leave it to Kathy to post these great questions or excuse me confessions is more like it.
I didnt think I would ever confess it to anyone but I can totally relate to everything you listed. Pre-op both my husband and I were really big eaters except my husband was never a sweet eater that was just me.
1. We would go to Mcdonalds and order 2 cheesebugers each, the biggest fry, the biggest drink, a 6 piece nugget each, and then something sweet for me.
2. I had to have something sweet after EVERY meal. I work at a grocery store and usually until 8 oclock at night so I would pick up something sweet every night, ranging from a box of ice cream, cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, little debbies, you name it. Id be so embarrassed to eat so much sweet stuff in front of my husband Id go to the bathroom and eat or wait till my husband went to bed.
3. At every meal Id eat to the point of being miserable and just as soon as I wasnt miserable Id be ready for something sweet. After I had my son 2 years ago I got post partum depression and food was the only thing that would soothe me ****il I got on medication when my son was 9 months old). In two months I gained 25 pounds. As long as I was eating I didnt think about being depressed. Oh my god that was the worst time in my entire life. Being a new mom and not having anyone to help me in the beginning was overwhelming. I dont think Id could confess the thoughts that went through my head during that time in my life.
4. I never had a problem with night eating. As a child I had to eat everything on my plate in order to get something sweet, and I can remember wrapping something up in my napkin and throwing it away. I had a step mother whom I hated and shed tell my daddy on me all the time whom I was terrified of so for the most part I was a plump child but not overweight. I moved in with my great grandmother at the age of 13 and thats when the weight problem began. I ate all the time at her house and as much as I wanted. She was always fixing cakes and cookies and frying food.
Still to this day I battle with my old eating habits. Having this surgery has really changed my life. Its amazing to me now how much I use to eat. My husband is still a big eater but has since lost 20 pounds since my surgery due to my better eating and cooking habits. Its good to know I can tell you guys anything! I love all of you.

I've shared before about my McD's (or pretty much any fast food) obsession. I remember one night so clearly:
I stopped at McD's on the way home and ordered a double quarter pounder with cheese, a McChicken (cuz I wanted some chicken, too), a 20 piece chicken nuggets with about 10 packets of honey, a super sized fries, Sprite, and a cherry pie. I finished it off in the 2-1/2 miles to my house and threw all the trash out the window so noone would know that I'd eaten it. I came home and prepared an entire meal for my family and ate dinner with my family. Hubby and I went out to the movies after that (we stopped for ice cream before the movies and while hubby ate only about 1/2 of his, I ordered and ate a large - Cold Stone) and I ate an entire jumbo sized popcorn myself at the movie cuz hubby was (understandably) full. Then we went out for a late 'snack' cuz hubby was slightly hungry after the movie and while he ordered a small appetizer, I ordered and finished off an entire 14" pizza. So, within about 5 hours, I ate the McD's, dinner, ice cream, popcorn, and a pizza.
Binging on fast food was a HUGE thing for me and when I didn't have the cash, I'd use the credit cards or intentionally overdraw my account to get the money. I would get angry at my husband if he didn't want to go out to eat and seriously yell at him because he wouldn't help me with my addiction. The typical 'on the run' snack usually involved at least 2 sandwiches and some nuggets. It was insane.

I'd have to say I'd done everything you did, except I don't think I ever got things out of the trash (that I can remember anyway). Never made it to the trash, lol.
My husband was a trucker and would be gone for several days and I used to go buy several large bags of chips, brownie mix, rice krispies to make the treats. Heck, a large bag of Spicier Nachos was my dinner most nights. That is definitely one item never ever allowed in my house again. Too afraid, I'll start in on them again.
When you mentioned buying 2 meals to make it appear it was for someone else, I even asked them to ring it up separately. It's almost like I felt they KNEW it was all for me. And I've also ordered an extra hamburger and eaten before I got home with our dinner.
I'd hide the chips in my closet or drawers, wait for my husband to go to sleep then eat them while he was asleep next to me. He is definitely not a lite sleeper! Sometimes I'd even pretend I was really busy at work and had to work late or on weekends just so I could snack on usually chips.
