Topic: WEIGHT STABALIZED, BUT WANT TO LOSE MORE
It has been about a year in a half since my surgery. I have lost pretty much 100 lbs. exactly and now I can't seem to get off anymore. Right after surgery I didn't exercise because I had complication but after I got well I still didn't exercise. I finally started about 3 months ago and have been faithful to it ever since, at least 3 times a week but I usually exercise Mon-Fri. I know I get too many carbs in and I can go a entire day without drinking anything so I don't get my water in. I do drink water after I exercise, that's about the only time I drink a day. I knew before the surgery drinking water would be a problem because I'm not a big drinker. I haven't gained any weight back but I have heard that people could eat instead of drink because they cannot tell the difference. I think I'm one of those people. Should I just make myself drink at certain times? I don't mind eating healthy food but when I give my kids snack (cheetos, cookies, etc.) I tend to munch a bit with them which makes me not eat my healthy meal I have prepared because I'm full already. Should I see a psychologist? I actually like exercising now that I do it regularlly but my eating habits have fell way off. I want to still lose another 100 lbs but if I'm stuck here how can I go further. If I increase my water will that jump start me again? Should I just get strict with the entire family and not buy junk food for the husband and kids since my hand eventually ends up in the bag as well? Give me some advise, I am very grateful with the 100 lbs I've lost but I'm still far from goal. I know if I could get my extra skin removed I would probably be at least 20 lbs lighter but I want to wait and prove to myself I can keep off the weight before having another surgery, also me and my hubby are thinking about having another child so I don't need to get nipped/tucked until after that. Sidebar question: Has anyone had any trouble with conceiving after surgery? We haven't been trying long but I just wanted to know. Thanks.

Topic: Learning to have patients
*sigh* What a learning experience my life is!!! After spending a lot of time on the phone trying to get some help with my labs, I'm exhausted!!!! PCP: sent me back to wlsurgeon WL surgeon: says labs are "not that far off" and I should be fine. Call them if hemoglobin gets down to 5 or 6. So after doing a little more research on my own I KNOW that my labs are "that far off" and I need to have it checked out more. So I called the PCP back and ask for a referal to a hemotologist. Course - its ALL about the money!!!! So he says I have to come in for another appointment for the referal....gggggrrrrr but OK, so I make the appointment. Then I also find out the the B1 lab test was messed up and they don't have enough blood to redo it....so I also have to get more blood drawn. I KNOW it's that they don't know how to process the blood for that lab. The poor lab tech was looking through books and even called two different ppl on the phone to figure out what to do. So, I'll be going back to the pcp on Friday to get the referal and blood drawn and hopefully I'll get sent somewhere that will take this seriously!!!! Laurie

Kathy, Wish I could! I'd love to attend one of these. Hopefully, I will. I am going to Stockholm, Sweden on Dec 7 for 10 days of a family reunion. I am so short of cash right now getting ready for that, I don't dare throw in anything else right now. I do hope to meet you someday! Lori

Topic: RE: Intenal hernia-Emergency surgery
I too had my surgery May 2005. I now have a Hernia that I haven't had repaired as of yet because I'm trying to get a TT in the process. I am however nervous because I don't want it to become an emergency. As I understand, this is a common side effect of the open RNY.

Had my GBS in May 2005; lost 150 lbs. Starting having episodes of severe abdominal pain at about the 8th month post op. Ended up in ER last week; emergency lap done 12 am; doc found internal hernia at jejejunal junction. Scary to have complications this far out. Anyone else heard of this problem or had similar issue? Would love to hear from you.

Topic: RE: OT-Lost my furry friend Sunday
Dear Sue, Lucky was exactly that.... Lucky.... I know it's hard to contemplate now, but please consider saving another "lucky animal" from your local pound/shelter. I adopted a pound puppy almost two years ago and I can't image our lives without him. Kudo's to you for knowing when to let go. I know it's one of lifes major decisions and the hurt and pain are hard to overcome, but you did the right thing by ending Lucky's pain. Now she can run and play where-ever our furry friends go when they pass-on. I know nothing can take Lucky's place in your heart. Maybe in time, there will be a little room for another cold nose and warm heart... Kate Z

Don't remember exactly everything I had yesterday, but I know I was good! No grazing, got in my protein, got in my water and and no junk food.
