Topic: OT (Or is it): Wisdom of the Soul
Wisdom of the SOUL 1. No one can ruin your day without YOUR permission 2. Most people will be about as happy, as they decide to be. 3. Others can stop you temporarily, only you can do it permanently. 4. Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have. 5. Success stops when you do. 6. When your ship comes in .. make sure you are willing to unload it. 7. You will never "have it all together." 8. Life is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the trip! 9. The biggest lie on the planet: "When I get what I want I will be happy." 10. The best way to escape your problem is to solve it! 11. I've learned that ultimately 'takers' lose and 'givers' win. 12. Life's precious moments don't have value, unless they are shared. 13. If you don't start, it's certain you won't arrive. 14. We often fear the things we want the most. 15. Everyone hears what you say. Friends listen to what you have to say. Best friends listen to what you don't say! 16. Yesterday was the deadline for all complaints. 17. Look for opportunities. .not guarantees. 18. Life is what is coming, not what was. 19. Success is getting up one more time. 20. Now is the most interesting time of all. 21. When things go wrong ... don't go with them. 22. Sometimes the majority only means that all the fools are on the same side. 23. God can mend all broken hearts.. You just have to give HIM all the pieces. 24. A person who asks a question might be a fool for five minutes, but a person who doesn't ask, is a fool forever. 25. A best friend is like a four leaf clover .. hard to find, and blessed to have. 26. A friend is someone *****aches for your hand but touches your heart. 27. I don't have to attend every argument I'm invited to. 28. Eyes are placed in front because it is more important to look ahead than to look behind.

Last night at our support group, a woman was talking about an assignment her therapist gave her. The woman has gone through alot since her WLS and traded a food addiction for alcohol. Then realized that and cut that out only to replace that with shopping and lest us not forget internet addiction. Her assignment from her therapist was to sit and evaluated what emotion she was feeling when she felt the need for: food, alcohol, shopping/spending or getting on the net. She doesn't have to figure out where the root of the emotion is coming from, what triggered it, what caused it, etc but to recognize the emotion and name it. Is it anger? Is it lonliness? Is it sadness? Etc. Many of us, stuff feelings by eating or now doing other behaviors in order to not recognize, acknowledge or "feel" the emotion. She is going to share the list of emotions and what her therapist provided her. I'll share once I get the info. Thought it was something that might benefit some of us, as well. Kathy

Topic: Clothes Shopping
I NEED TO PREFACE THIS WITH THIS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: There is to be NO regarding my clothing size. You may find it that I'm what I am but it doesn't matter what size you are. I have a harder time finding clothes to fit now then when I was a size 24W. So please, if it offends you that I'm complaining - DONT READ THIS MESSAGE!!!!! OK - I need some advice on shopping for clothes! First of all I wouldn't know fashion if it came up and bit me in the nose!!! I have no clue what to buy, or where to buy it from. So far, I've done WalMart and JCPenny. WalMart smallest is a 4 and they hardly carry those, they're a tad too big and the only alternative is Junior sizes which I KNOW I don't like the styles. (I don't do shirts with sayings on them and jeans that are painted on my body). Next stop, JCPenny - now here I can find jeans alright (still have to get size 4 and they're still big in the waste inorder for them to fit my big thighs) but I don't know what kinds of outfits to shop for. I need dressy casual clothes (no jeans). I go to a lot of Mary Kay functions and they're either dressy casual or our business attire (which I already have). I do have a brown leather coat that dh bought me for mothers day!!! It's the nicest thing I own. I'm always cold so I need layers or an option to wear a sweater. So, if you find anything that I might like or a place to shop to look PLEASE let me know. I'm going on a MK weekend trip the 19th and dont have anything to wear!!!

There are just so many feelings and emotions as read everyones response to Beckys post. I agree agree agree agree!! Now that my daughter is back in school my habits have gotten worse. It is like anytime I get a little bored or lonely I eat. You mean I shouldn't eat a large bag of sweedish fish in an afternoon? But they were on sale only 62 cents on clearance at CVS! And you just can't exercise 8 hours a day. It definetly curbs my appetite but I do have to leave the gym eventually. So sometimes I have a glass of wine in the afternoon and that just turns into more and more and usually an afternoon nap. Now that makes alot if sense! But people keep telling me how great I look so I figure even doing all the wrong stuff I can look great! Now that is logical. I am going to actually try to clean my house today...that should keep me way busy enough not to eat!
